CHAPTER 1
“It’s so cold! Why did the temperature suddenly dropped. I was still wearing a single layer just yesterday!” Lavender complained, shivering while they're seating in one of the university's classroom.
Today, the temperature had plummeted so suddenly, and many students who didn’t pay attention to the weather forecast had not dressed warmly enough. The cold wintery wind blew, and they nearly froze.
“Lavender, are you cold?” Mary Clark turned to ask Lavender Fields who was only wearing a sweatshirt.
Lavender tucked her pale fingers into her sleeves and said, “It’s okay. I still have some warmth left.”
Mary laughed at her. Finding her funny as she shrink her body on her loose sweatshirt.
At that moment, a long sigh came from the seat behind them, followed by a annoyingly familiar voice complaining.
“Ah, yesterday, my boyfriend bought me a scarf and said the temperature would drop today but I didn’t believe him. Fortunately, he insisted, or I would have frozen to death by now.”
“Your boyfriend is so considerate. I’m envious.”
“What’s there to envy? He’s just a sweet guy who only knows how to buy expensive gifts. He doesn’t care if they’re good-looking or not. If I didn’t want to disappoint him, I wouldn’t even wear this grandma-style scarf.”
Mary rolled her eyes. Completely annoyed and disgusted.
Meanwhile, Lavender's lips couldn’t help but curve with a mocking arc.
The speaker’s name was Suzanna Smith, their roommate. The “boyfriend” he was talking about was snatched from Lavender Fields.
Lavender's ex-boyfriend was named David Kingston. They first met at a club, and David who always liked good looking people, fell in love at first sight with Lavender, who was known as the campus beauty. He pursued her for almost half a year before Lavender finally agreed to date him.
Originally, a girlfriend who had been so hard to pursue should have been treasured. But the fact was not so.
After dating for a few months, he met Suzanna, who did not get along with the people in her old dorm room came to be their new room mate. It just happened that Mary and Lavender's two dormmates move out to rent a house outside campus at the same time, so the counselor asked Suzanna to move into their dorm.
After living in their dorm for a few days, Suzanna saw that Lavender's boyfriend was handsome and generous, and also came from a rich family, so she secretly developed the idea of snatching him away.
At first, Suzanna's appearance did not meet David's standard for beauty, but her methods were clever. Suzanna was skilled at using cute and flirtatious tactics, and most importantly, she liked to dress provocatively. With a hundred tricks, she managed to capture David's heart, and within a month, they ended up together.
Suzanna even deliberately arranged everything so Lavander would catch them kissing. And when Lavander saw them in act, she was so disgusted with both of them that she immediately broke up with him on the spot, leaving the scumbag to his fate.
However, after snatching David away, Suzanna did not stop. She would always shamelessly flaunted all the luxury goods that David gave her in front of Lavender on daily basis, feeling superior. She's obviously proud of stealing away a wealthy boyfriend from her.
Just like, now…
Actually, Lavender didn’t feel particularly sad about her boyfriend being taken away. She's actually happy that she took him for herself. It’s better to break up early with that kind of scumbag who has the potential to cheat.
But Suzanna's behavior made her sick to her stomach.
If she hadn’t experienced it personally, she wouldn’t believe that there were people in the world who are shameless to this degree.
Mary nudged Lavender with her elbow and deliberately said in a sarcastic tone, “Lavender, look at that face on the ground. Which thick skinned slut littered and didn’t even want her face back?”
Lavender chuckled and replied, “Where did she get a face?”
Mary said in mock exaggeration, “Oh, I must have been mistaken. I forgot that people with thick skin doesn’t even feel shame, let alone worry about their face.”
Some people who understood their conversation laughed, and Suzanna knew that they were mocking hiherm, but they didn’t name her directly, so he could only sneer.
Let them mock her! As if she care what they think! The campus beauty's boyfriend was stolen by someone like her! Heh, being good-looking doesn’t matter. Without ability, even the boyfriend of someone so beautiful like Lavender can’t be kept.

After finally making it through their morning classes, Lavender and Mary hurried back to their dormitory to put on thick clothes.
As Mary put on her clothes, she shivered and said, “I’m so cold I’ve even put on two jackets. Gosh, this weather is so terrible, I hope it doesn’t snow.”
“It’s hard to say, it started snowing around this time in the previous years, but it’s been colder this year,” Lavender replied as he took out a pair of thick shoes from the closet.
Due to her weak constitution, Lavender's feet were easily turn to ice when it got cold, so she needed to pay special attention to keeping them warm. Thick shoes and socks were essential items for her in the winter.
While Lavender was putting on her socks, the door to their dormitory opened and Suzanna came back carrying a takeout bag. When she saw the two of them, she said warmly, “You’re both here, perfect! My boyfriend ordered a whole bucket of chicken for me, but I can’t finish it. You haven’t had lunch yet right, come let’s eat together!”
Generally speaking, Suzanna had stolen Lavender's boyfriend and kept showing it off, so they had a strained relationship. But this person had the ability to maintain a surface-level peace, and would joke around with them as if nothing had happened.
Mary, who wasn’t good at pretending, sneered, “I’m not going to eat it, I’m afraid it’ll give me too much internal heat.” He even emphasized the words “internal heat.”
Suzanna bit her lip. If there were other people around, she probably would’ve had a pitiful look on her face, wondering what she’d done wrong to make her roommates exclude her.
In fact, their dormitory had always had a good relationship, and they wouldn’t exclude anyone just because of small faults. One of the roommates who moved out had a serious cleanliness obsession, but they all got along well with her and accommodated her by keeping their dormitory clean.
But Suzanna made it hard for people to keep their peace of mind. In Mary's words, the fact that they hadn’t beat her up or kick her out showed they had a lot of self-restraint.
Suzanna then turned to Lavender. After putting on her shoes, she said directly, “I’m not going to eat it.”
“Oh…” Suzanna lowered her gaze and looked at Lavender's shoes, and suddenly said, “Your shoes are coming apart, aren’t you going to throw them away?”
There was a place on the side of Lavender's shoes where the sole was coming apart, but it didn’t affect the wearer as long as it wasn’t raining. Due to her tight budget, Lavender was frugal and hadn’t thrown them away.
Whether it was intentional or not, Suzanna shook her feet twice as she spoke. She was wearing limited edition sneakers worth thousands of dollars, which she had already bragged about before. They were also gifts from David.
Lavender really didn’t care what David had given her, but this endless provocation was enough to make even the most patient person lose their temper.
Having put on her shoes, Lavender said expressionlessly, “Why should I throw them away? If someone who likes to wear second hand shoes picks them up and wears them in front of me to show off, I’d be disgusted.”
Suzanna clamped her mouth shut.
Meanwhile when Mary heard Lavender's words she laughed all the way from the dormitory to the cafeteria.
“You nailed it just now. Did you see it, Suzanna's face turned green! Hahaha.”
Mary throw her arm at her shoulder and said, “I underestimated you before, friend. I didn’t expect you to be so good at dealing with people like that bitch.”
Lavender frowned, “She just makes me so angry, I couldn't resist..”
“Who doesn’t hate her? If we knew before, what kind of person she was before when the counselor asked us to let her move in, we wouldn’t have agreed so quickly. I thought she was a nice guy at first, but who knew she was actually like this.”
Suzanna was very good at disguising herself. People who were not familiar with her would think that she was a genuinely a nice person, who spoke softly, smiling at everyone, and being very kind.
At that time, Mary found it hard to believe when the counselor said that Suzanna couldn’t get along with the people in her old dormitory. She didn’t look like someone who couldn’t get along with others at all.
Who knew, that she's actually a two faced b***h, who was so good at pretending.
There were no classes in the afternoon, and Mary went to another dormitory to play games with her other friends. Meanwhile, Lavender had a design draft that she didn't finished yet, so she went to the library.
It was not the final exam period now, and there are not many people in the library. Lavander went to her usual seat and was thinking about what to sketch when a pair of hands suddenly tapped twice on the table in front of her.
Lavender snapped out of her thoughts and realized that someone was sitting across from her.
And surprisingly, it was David Kingston her scumbag ex-boyfriend.
“What is it?” Lavender's voice sounds indifferent.
David scratched the back of his head and said, “I want to ask you to design a bracelet for me that I could give to my elders. Don't worry I’ll pay for it.”
Lavender actually was studying jewelry design. She was naturally talented, smart and eager to learn. She had won national competitions before she even went to university, and there was no suspense when she participated in competitions during her university years. She had even become somewhat famous before graduating.
There were even well-known jewelry platforms that had extended an olive branch to her, inviting her to become a designer on their company after graduation.
Lavander looked at his irritating face and refused without any hesitation, “I’m busy.”
“Please, this is very important to me. I can even pay you double, if you like?” David begged.
The person David wanted to give the gift held a high position in their family and had a strong liking for jewelries. Ordinary luxury brand jewelry didn’t catch their eye, so he had to find someone to design it.
However, he had no connections with those expensive designers, and Suzanna, who studied jewelry design, drew several drafts but he was not satisfied with them. So David had to swallow his pride so he could ask Lavender for help.
Although they had already broken up, Lavender was always easy-going and agreeable. As long as he begged a few more times, she would surely agree.
But now Lavender is actually annoyed by him. “Even if you triple the price I'm not going to help you, so go and get lost.”
David looked at her speechless. “……”
“Lavender…”
“Get lost!”
Lavender slammed her pencil hard on the paper, and the pencil tip broke into two pieces, with one flying in front of David.
David looked at the person who used to be gentle to him, but now had an almost murderous look in her eyes, as she looked at him. So feeling conflicted he slinked away dejectedly.
“Asshole!”
Angela cursed through gritted teeth, her mood ruined for the whole day by that scumbag and his bitchy girlfriend.
Who the hell they think they were?! Did they really think that they’re someone special just because they have some dirty money. They haven’t even become a wealthy family yet, but they’re already showing off.
Don’t be fooled by David’s lavish spending, or Suzanna's sense of superiority as if she’s going to marry into a wealthy family, David's family was actually not considered wealthy. They were only relatively rich, far from the level of a bonafide wealthy family. However, he has a terminally ill wealthy uncle that was impotent, so he couldn’t get married or have children, and therefore chose him as his heir.
Sometimes, Suzanna's boasting annoyed Lavender so much that she secretly hoped something would happened that will cause David to lose his inheritance rights— that would be hilarious too see.
Lavender took out a pencil sharpener and was about to sharpen her pencil when she heard a clear ringtone from a phone. She then saw that a silver phone was left on the table where David was sitting just now. That phone was the one Lavander accompanied David to pick, and it was also the color she personally liked.
Lavender's mouth couldn’t help but curl up in sarcasm. Since the phone was too loud, some students looked at over unhappily. So Lavender took the phone and press the mute button. As she was about to put it back, she looked at the incoming call display on the phone and was slightly stunned.
The caller was "Little Uncle.”
David had told her that his uncle with the terminal illness was the youngest in the family.
Could it be…
At this moment, a bold idea suddenly popped up in Lavender's mind.
What if she took down David's young uncle, marry him, get pregnant with his baby, and thus made David lose his inheritance?
The idea was so absurd and extremely malicious. It was not something that someone with Lavender's character would do.
But once this idea came up, she couldn’t suppress it no matter how hard she tried.
A secret excitement arose in Lavender's mind.
An excitement towards revenge on the people who always tormented her.
An excitement towards those shameless scumbags and cheapskates that'll make them so angry they would drop dead on the spot.
Her plan was kind of satisfying that it made Lavander’s evil thoughts grow more and more as she looked at the ringing phone on her hand.
So she took another pen and wrote down the phone number on a piece of paper.
