Hey guys! Let me tell you about the story I'm passionate about writing. Just imagine: a man like Nico Moretti, loyal, dangerous and totally mysterious, who is tasked with rescuing Elena, the mafia boss's daughter. But this way, she is not a defenseless girl. Elena ran away from an arranged marriage and now an entire rival family wants her dead because of it. Nico should just follow orders, you know? But things are never that simple. As they run away together, facing enemies, betrayals and even their own past choices, Nico begins to realize that protecting Elena is more than a mission. It's something that moves him in a way he never imagined.

Chapter : 1 The Family Watchdog
The sound of rain hitting the car’s windshield felt like a constant melody accompanying Nico Moretti’s thoughts. He was parked in front of an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of Palermo, waiting for the right moment to complete another job. To him, that night was just one more in an endless series of missions that shaped his existence. Nico wasn’t just a soldier; he was the man who solved the Moretti Family’s problems. That’s why they called him "Il Segugio", the Watchdog. For those outside who knew the Morettis, Nico was often referred to as the family’s third son. He carried the Moretti surname as a concession from Vittorio, who always treated him like a son, though Nico knew he would never truly be part of the family by blood. He was a street kid, a survivor of a childhood marked by hunger and violence. Nico often said that his first tear had also been his last, shed the night he lost everything he had. It was Vittorio Moretti who gave him a second chance. At 16, Nico was just a thief trying to steal the wrong car. Vittorio caught him in the act but, instead of handing him over to the police or ending his life on the spot, saw something in him—perhaps the same survival instinct that had guided his family for generations. From that day forward, Nico became loyal. He owed his life to Vittorio, and for a man like Nico, debts were never forgotten. But being part of the Family didn’t mean truly belonging to it. Nico knew his place: in the shadows. While the true heirs—Elena and Alessandro, Vittorio’s two children—sat at the table, he stood nearby, always close enough to protect but never to participate. He was accepted but never equal. And Nico preferred it that way. Emotions were a weakness he couldn’t afford to have. That night, as he waited, Nico received a text message: “Job done?” He didn’t reply. Instead, he stepped out of the car and, in less than ten minutes, resolved the problem. A man who had dared to cross Vittorio Moretti wouldn’t make that mistake again. It was simple, straightforward. Nico never felt remorse—he just did what needed to be done. The job was finished, but something about the night still left him uneasy. At the Moretti mansion, Vittorio was waiting for him. He was an imposing figure, with a sharp gaze and a voice heavy with authority. When Nico entered the room, still smelling of rain, Vittorio gave him a brief, direct look. — Good work. Now, I have something bigger for you. That’s when Vittorio mentioned his daughter, Elena Moretti. Elena was almost a legend among the Family’s members. She had spent most of her life away from Italy, studying at elite schools and living among people who never had to dirty their hands to survive. Nico had never seen her but knew she was the next piece in the mafia’s chessboard. Elena had returned for an arranged marriage to Enzo De Luca, the heir of one of the most influential families. A union that promised to seal a fragile peace between the two houses. — She’s too smart for her own good, — Vittorio continued. — She’s only been back in Italy for three weeks and has already caused me more trouble than all my men combined. But she’s my daughter, and this marriage will happen. Nico didn’t respond. It wasn’t his place to question Vittorio’s orders. He simply nodded and waited for instructions. Later that night, after leaving the mansion, Nico drove to the center of Palermo. He knew where Elena would be. He had been given clear orders to keep her under discreet surveillance, to ensure she followed the rules. When he found her, she was leaving a restaurant, wrapped in a light coat that highlighted her fiery red hair and piercing eyes. She didn’t look as he had imagined. She wasn’t a pampered or fragile heiress. Elena walked with confidence, her gaze sharp, as if ready to face the world. For a moment, Nico watched her from afar. She was there, just a few meters away, but he didn’t approach. To him, Elena was just another assignment, and getting too close was never a good idea. He got back into the car and continued to observe her, ensuring nothing disrupted the wedding.
