2284 Words
This is driving me nuts! The pale skinned boy uttered in his mind. Ceres just came into accepting the fact that he will once again live the life of Parzelus Richter von Cassidy… yet another dillema presented itself in the face of these two visitors! Of course he knew them. Vice Captain of the Order of the Red Dragon Knights Sir Trystan Paulsy and the resident sorcerer of the Cassidy family, Jansen!  Parzelus knows that they will appear one of these days to bring him to the duke but he never expect that to happen in a few minutes after regressing! Why so soon?! He racked his brains to find something relevant in his memories. His eyes widen with shock and fear. The Marowak m******e! That atrocious incident is closely woven to his name in his first life. Everyone specially the survivors, would agree that it was 'the young master Parzelus' fault. True enough, Parzel would agree to that. If it was for his stupedity to escape his escorts through the woods of Mahorka they would stumble upon that huge reptilian beast that is considered as an untouchable legend due to it violent nature. So yes, it's his fault that more than half of his talented escorts was slain by the Marowak. And one of the casualty is standing in front of him and beside him was the guy who will hunt his head because of the incident. His eyes widened as he meet the green irises of the vice captain. Parzelus averted his eyes. Fear crept from the base of his spine. How many times did he experience assassination attempts by that man in his first life?  After the accident, Vice Captain Trystan left the knight order and focused on ways to have his head.  He can't help but worry for his future. Not knowing how to act, he stayed in his seat and stayed vigilant. Parzelus constantly avoided the stares of the two men. "Please take a seat, Sir Paulsy and Sir?" Sister Annie gave a small smile to the pretty young man.  With a flick of his long blue hair, he answered. "Its Jansen, sorcerer from the Cassidy dukedom." The way he spoke was as smooth as a noble lady. Enunciating each and every word with finesse. Vice Captain Trystan slightly shudder at this but shrugged it off immediately. His eyes still glued to the little boy with ruby eyes. Those colors are almost identical to their captain so he can't help but utter some word. "May we know the name of this beautiful child." He saw that the boy slightly flinched at his voiced. Trystan frowned inside.  Did I came too strong or do I look frightening? Jansen probably saw this, snickered. All of the adults inside the office stared at the seven year old kid. The priestesses thought that perhaps the presence of the visitor made this troublemaker nervous.  Instead the director answered for him. "This is Parzelus Richter. One of the new kids in this orphanage. He came three months ago after a ranger caught him trying to sneak his way in the woods." The two visitors widened their eyes out of astonishment. It wasn't stated in the report that Trystan read a while ago.  On the other hand, Parzelus feel like all his blood directly went to his face. That is so TMI, Sister Annie! Too. Much. Info! You don't have to say that! Vice Captain Trystan bite back his questions and concern after seeing the flushed face of the little lad. "So freakin' cute!" Jansen whispered to his ear. He just noded his head. Sister Annie ushered the boy to her fellow priestess and they left together with the others. Considering that it concerns a personal business of a man of a high societal standing, the only people in the room are the two visitors and the director-priestess. "We are here under the order of Duke Casser von Cassidy to look for his lost son." Vice Captain Trystan Paulsy immediately dropped the bomb. "We manage to track his whereabouts and found out that the young master is possibly under your care." Shock was evident in the eyes of the priestess. However, she calmly collected herself and stayed silent as if encouraging the knight to continue. "The young master's name is Parzelus Richter. According to our investigation, he is now seven years old." "What?" Sister Annie can't help but exclaim. "But Sir, how could that be? We talked to the boy and he said that he lived with his mother before they were attacked and his mother died in the hands of their assailants in the streets of Heartzborough." "And he also said that his mother works as an entertainer… in the red light district." Sister Annie trailed off feeling a bit skeptical. Based on the appearance of the child, he certainly looks like a noble child. Parzelus may look dirty and rugged when they first met but after he bathe and got his hair trimmed, the boy absolutely looks lovely. That is the reason why even though the child acts brash, most of his collegues doted on  him. Including her. Well, plus the fact that the boy was a bearer. That only made them more over protective of the child. But did Parzelus lie to them? No, that child may seem unrully, a troublemaker but he is never a liar. Annie observed within the past three months that the Parzelus will rather stay quiet whenever he made some mistakes and would always open his mouth whenever he was wronged. Sister Annie believes in the word of the child. But what about these two gentle man in front of her. Both are working under an irrefutable honorable man. However, nobles are nobles. There is no way that she will let that child go without deciding evidence. Sister Annie knows that the child already suffer so at least she wanted to ascertain the path for the silver haired boy with a pair of lovable ruby eyes. Sister Annie sigh and leaned at the back rest of her seat. Now cool and collected, she asked. "Do you have any proof?" Vice Captain Trystan gave her a white envelope. Sister Annie look at the seal and saw an image of a roaring dragon with its pair of wings spread out. The insignia of Cassidy family.  She opened it and read the contents of the letter. It was hand written ans addressed from the duke himself. Sister Annie doubts that it might be written by the duke's secretary or what not but she just swallowed back her sentiments. Nothing good will happen if she ever crossed a high ranking noble. According to the letter, the duke was in an expedition right now so he instead sent his trusted vice captain and sercerer. They will perform a blood test to determine Parzelus' paternity. "When will you perform the blood test?" Sister Annie asked after reading the letter. "As soon as possible, priestess." answered Jansen. "Everything is ready on our end." "I see." Sister Annie said "Then may I ask a favor?" "Ask away, Sister Annie. We will do our best to grant it as long as it is within our capabilities." said Vice Captain Trystan. "Please don't speak anything about the duke or the blood testing to Parzelus. That boy just lost his mother a few months ago. I don't want him to expect and got hurt if ever it turns out that he is not the young master that you are looking for." The vice captain was taken aback by such request but he nodded in agreement in the end. After that, they agreed to prepare for the blood testing. Jansen took out a ceramic bowl from his demensional ring and cast a magical array to make it afloat in the center of the office. Then he put a water like solution on the bowl and utter a few chants. After a few minutes the surface of the solition glittered like a pristine lake water under the sun. "Okay all done." he winked at Trystan which the man return with a scowl. Sister Annie on the other hand paged one of her collegue using a communication bead. She instructed the other priestess to fetch little Parzelus and bring him to her office. A good two minutes passed by and a small knocks in the office's door was heared. Sister Annie opened the door and a small figure of a boy entered. Parzelus spew a litany of curses in his head as he entered the director's office. He is not mentally ready to face anyone from Cassidy yet here he is. Waltzing his way to doom. He look at the two prominent figures in the room. The blue haired one whom he will accidentally kill in a few days- if ever he is stupid enough to make the same mistake that is- and the tall brown haired hunk who will chase after his head-if ever things played out the same like his first life. For the past few minutes, Parzelus was contemplating for ways to evade his doom. He decided that he needed to be subservient. Well at least until they safely passed through the Mahorka Forest that is. Truthfully speaking, Parzelus is still reluctant to meet the duke and his family, his family. He is not that thick skinned to meet the people whom he wronged in his first life. So he is still considering the option of running away. Plus, he planning on messing the advancement of the demons within the empire. He felt obliged to do that since that is a part of his sins that he decided to repent for. Parzelus doesn't want to let his family entangled in such mess. "Good afternoon, Sister Annie and…guests." Parzelus said with a very child-like awkwardness. He mentally curse at his self. "Hello, Parzelus. How are you feeling?" Jansen the sorcerer approached him in a friendly manner. He kind of expected this since based on his memories both of the knight and sorcerer treated him gently at first. It just changed after I acted like an ass. Back then, he was violent and a troublesome flight risk. However, now he will be obedient. I wanted to keep my head after all. "I am ugh, good. Thanks." Somehow his no longer visible bruise in his cheeks hurt.  He awkwardly held the sleeves of Sister Annie. Jansen compared that small action to that of startled little rabbit in the wild. He subconciously smiled. Vice Captain Trystan, on the other hand, is trying to pick the right words to say. Earlier he saw how the boy flinched at his voice so he is working his brains out in order to not look intimidating for the little child. "Young Parzelus, I am from the magic knights so uhm we are currently working on something… May we request for your help?" Parzelus thought that he is the most awkward one in the room but it turns out, he was wrong. He look at the uncomfortable expression of the brown haired man. He just nodded in order not to pressure him any further. Jansen shamelessly laughed at the vice captain. That constipated-like face of the man was too perfect to laugh at. "You don't have to worry it would be quick. We just need a little bit of your blood, it may hurt a bit but no worries since we have a high quality ointment from the capital. It will heal your wound in no time." Jansen said. Vice captain unknowingly touched his flushed ears. Ashamed of his poor interpersonal skills. Again, Parzelus said nothing but nod. Sister Annie, on the other hand, was watching this with eyes full of wonder. She did not expect that the troblemaker bearer that they took in will act obediently to these strangers. She remembered how Parzelus acted like a seething cat whenever she approached him during the first week of the boy in the orphanage. Was the boy enthralled by the knights? Sister Annie mentally slapped her face and stopped her weird thoughts. Parzelus walked towards the floating ceramic bowl. He look at the luminous water. Vice Captain gave a small bottle of scarlet fluid to Jansen.  It was the blood sample of Duke Casser von Cassidy. Then he poured its contents to the bowl.  The red blood generously spread thoughout the solution, in no time, it looks like there was a bowl full of blood in the ceremic even though they only a put few drops. Parzelus then offered his index finger to Jansen as he took out a dark shiny dagger from his dimensional ring. "This is sterilized." said the sorcerer to worried looking priestess as if to assure her. Parzelus closed his eyes and bit his lower lips as he felt the blade prick his skin. His pain tolerance lowered to that of a child, he said to himself.  He felt a gentle squeez in his finger tips and a few small droplets escaped from him. It isn't that long until he heared a few gasps from the people around him. "He really is!" he heared the vice captain exclaimed. "The young master!" Parzelus opened his eyes and look down at the ceramic bowl. The formerly blood red solution was now reverted back to its original clear water-like state. Parzelus was amazed by the speed of blood test results. Back on Earth, the DNA testing tooks days or weeks before the result is shown but here, it was instanteneous. Magic is really amazing. Parzelus did not see or hear the amazed and surprized reaction of the people with him as he himself is lost in his thoughts.
