When Alexa and Nicole excused themselves from the rest of the guests and went upstairs, Miranda overheard their conversation as she was serving the guests drinks. But for any conversations having to do with Derrick, Miranda was always alert.
The top floor was off limits. Derrick hated to be disturbed, and Miranda was well aware of this. But she wanted to know what Alexa and Nicole were going to do on the top floor.
Seeing how elegantly hot Alexa and Nicole looked in their beautiful dresses that swept the floor, Miranda felt jealous and wished she wasn't a maid. Aside from being a maid, Miranda had managed to gain some highschool education, but she couldn't resign her contract as a maid yet—not when she admired the most handsome man on the planet.
"Ouch! Watch where you're going!" a female guest yelled at Miranda for stepping on her toes and losing her guard as the tray of drinks went off from her hands and stained the guest's white dress.
"How dare you, a lowly maid, stain my white dress? Do you know how much this outfit costs?" The guest felt annoyed. She was a young woman about Miranda's size, and seeing that the celebrant wasn't interested in his own party to meet with the guests that had arrived, that had only fueled the guest's irritation.
"I am sorry." Before Miranda could render her apology to the guest, the guest landed a hot slap on Miranda's left cheek.
"You are not deserving to be a maid here! Get out!" the guest yelled, and her voice turned the living room silent.
Lady Loretta felt shocked and chided the guest. "Melody, that's not how to treat your fellow lady. She made a mistake and apologized to you while we were all here. Come, Miranda," Lady Loretta called Miranda back.
"Show Melody to the room above. I think Nicole still has some spare clothes left in her room before she left us and got married last year."
"Okay, ma. Come with me," Miranda said to the angry lady, who now looked happy to be taken upstairs for a change.
As the bouncers were standing guard around the mansion and in the living room, the jubilation continued as Miranda went upstairs with Melody.
-------
Melody was happy to be away from the living room, and she whispered to Miranda, "Where's Master Derrick's room?"
Miranda didn't want to be friends with the lady who had dared to slap her. The lady was fair-skinned like her. Although Miranda was naturally fair, even when she wasn't using any toning lotion to brighten her skin.
"Can't you speak?" Melody yelled at Miranda again, and Miranda wouldn't have all that insult in a whole day from the female guest scolding her.
"What do you need Master Derrick's room for? Are you here for the birthday party, or are you here for the house master?" Miranda questioned the perplexed woman.
"What? How dare you speak to me in such an insolent manner? Have you lost your mint?" Melody charged at Miranda, and wanted to attack her, who didn't even know which of the rooms belonged to Derrick or his sisters.
Miranda served only Derrick's mother. The mansion was extremely vast, and the rooms above were too many to know which room was the master's or his elder sisters' room.
When Melody wanted to smack Miranda again, Derrick stepped out of his sitting room with his sister and Alexa as they came to check on him, after he had kept his briefcase and taken off his suit jacket.
"What's going on here?" Derrick demanded, and Melody quickly withdrew her hand and offered him a sweet smile.
"Good evening, Master Derrick. Your mother sent this silly maid to show me to one of her daughter's rooms to have a change of my dress after she spilled wine on me. But this maid is rude, and she doesn't want to show me to the room," Melody said.
"What?? That's a total lie. She was asking me about your bedroom, Master Derrick'," Miranda swiftly chimed in.
Silence ensued in the hallway. Much to Derrick's shock, Miranda's voice sounded so soft, and he hadn't heard talking anyone with such an alluring tone before.
He eyed the maid mysteriously, despite seen her before.
"That's not why you should attack my mother's maid when you're not the owner of this house. I saw you just now wanting to attack her. Leave here now. You are not welcome, and your contract with Luis Firm had been terminated," Derrick said, before walking toward the staircase to go downstairs.
However, Melody immediately went down on her knees and pleaded, "Please, Master Derrick. Forgive me. I didn't mean to attack the maid. She's lying, and I wasn't asking her about your room."
With leisurely strides, Derrick paid no heed to Melody begging him. He went downstairs to thank the guests who had taken out their time to honor his mother's invitation.
After Derrick, his sister, Alexa left the top floor, Melody stood up from the tiled floor and pounced on Miranda. She wanted to get her revenge on Miranda for making her lose her job, and also her chances with the master of the house.
"You witch! How dare you ruin my chances with Master Derrick? I am going to kill you today!"
Melody was not prepared. She didn't know that Miranda knew how to fight. As she rushed to attack Miranda, Miranda dodged the attack and kicked Melody very hard, and she pounced on the spoiled lady and started beating her.
"Somebody help!" Melody screamed, after Miranda landed multiple slaps on her in retaliation for the first slap that she had given to her.
Miranda sat on Melody's stomach on the tiled floor, and slapped her very hard on her face, also pulling her wig off.
Because of the loud music echoing in the living room, and the bodyguards had already escorted Derrick downstairs to the grand hall, no one could hear Melody crying and screaming out.
Miranda dealt with Melody. After she was through, she ran away and went into one of the rooms to have a cool evening bath.
------
The birthday celebration finally ended, and Derrick had thanked the guests that had taken out time to attend his 25th birthday party.
"Baby brother, I have to start going home now. Enjoy your night. I was thinking, why not ask Alexa out to be your girlfriend? She works beside you in the office, and she spends most of her days with you. Alexa is from a prestigious home here, and she will make a good wife for you," Nicole suggested to Derrick.
Derrick frowned a little and replied, "I am not interested in relationships, and Alexa knows this—except she's the one requesting for you to speak to me about a relationship."
"Not at all, Master Derrick," Alexa quickly replied, as she didn't want to lose her job, especially when she saw Derrick's face twisted in irritation.
"That's fine, sister. Let's call it a night. I have to go inside now and rest; then I will give your proposal a thought. Alexa Godwin is a wonderful woman, and I wouldn't mind asking her out the proper way," Derrick said, before putting his hands into his trouser pockets and offered his immediately elder sister a warm smile. He didn't want any of them worrying about him.
"That's fine, Derrick. Good night too. Bye," Nicole waved to Derrick as she got into her sleek red SUV. She drove home to meet her husband, as she had a newborn baby boy at home, while Alexa nervously smiled and walked up to her sleek black car.
She pulled the black car door open and got inside. Feeling Master Derrick's gaze on her, she then drove out of the mansion.
