HIS THREAT, BOOK THIRTEEN Mark "Is it done?" Pierre asks me breathlessly as he jumps into my car at an intersection where we agreed to meet after the mission, a few blocks from the hospital. "He was awake. I didn't kill him," I say, watching his reaction very closely for any sign of his betrayal. Though I have no idea what I'm actually hoping to see. He grimaces. "Why the f**k not?"
