AMAZING NEWS
The following Saturday, Bella sat inside the Williamstown Hospital cafeteria with Martha. Jamie was busy with patients, and Martha contacted Bella. She had news.
Martha stood rigid, her eyes lighting up as she peered into the distance.
“So don’t keep me hanging, Martha. What’s the good news?”
She rubbed her hands together. “Jamie knows about it, but I wanted to let you know, given how supportive you’ve been these past few weeks. I couldn’t have got through my separation without you.”
“And?” Bella asked. She wondered why Martha hesitated in sharing her news when she was obviously ecstatic about it. What held her back? Mixed feelings?
