His words strike the air, heavy and final, like it's a command I must obey. Sweat beads form on my skin under his intense gaze that refuses to leave my face, wanting to see through the veil. I shake my head. Something flickers in his gaze, acknowledgement perhaps, and he leans close, making me instantly step back.
