Chapter 4. (Archer POV)

534 Words
I was finally bringing her home, at long last. My body was surging with desire and the smell of her walking behind me for the last few hours had been growing my temptation to stop everything and to complete our bond for once and for all. But the time for that would come. For now, I simply wanted to get her home. My blood was still burning at the thought of her roaming the woods on her own. Did she not know what kind of things could find her there? Why would she take such a risk? I could barely stand to think about what could have happened if we didn’t find her. But all that didn’t matter now. We were finally home. Even at a glance, as we entered into the familiar clearing where our pack house stood, it was clear that the pack had picked up on the change within me. Every man and wolf stood at the ready, eyes peeled and ears perked, watching with interest as the four of us approached. We’d been waiting for this day to come. When the Alpha wolf of a pack meets his mate, his Luna, there is a complete transformation within him, which strengthens him and binds the pack with greater strength than before. And that was just the strength that we’d been waiting for to survive as a pack and finally stand up for what was right in the forest. * * * By wolf standards, our pack was small. One of the smallest on the whole continent, in fact. But what we lacked in numbers, we made up for in every other aspect. The wolves in our pack were loyal, hard working and, most of all, committed to our common purpose. For centuries, the lives of werewolves in the forest have been inhibited and we’ve been held back from our true nature. Of course, we didn’t have much choice in the matter because these days the forest is shared among the different species and is no longer ours alone. Vampires, witches, wizards, dwarves and elves roam amongst us too But with any change comes a lot of resistance and not all werewolves think alike. It was for this reason that I split away from then pack I grew up in 5 years ago and we’ve been steadily building since then. We are now a pack of young and wild wolves who are ready to stand up for what we believe in. And now that I have my Luna, I’m ready to lead us forward. * * * My heart was pounding with every thought of her. Her long brown hair, tangled in the wind from running framed her beautiful face in the most magnificent way. And her scent was intoxicating. I could smell her from miles away, with wafts of wild violets tempting me towards her. I could still feel the heat of my blood at the thought of her in the forest alone. But she was with me now and I couldn’t wait to get to know her more deeply. My wolf was whining to get out and claim our beautiful mate, but I knew that the time would soon come.
