My mind was still racing by the time we arrived at home. We walked in together and the presence of my mother first met us. My heart skipped a beat as I knew it would certainly raise questions inside of her. She was definitely going to ask how Hayden and I managed to walk back home together.
"You two are back. How did it go?" I tilted my head to look at Hayden. I wished he would understand from my look but he tilted his head away. I knew he was trying not to elongate the silence so as not to raise any suspicions.
