Ashley “Freedom. That’s a joke, isn’t it? He was never going to let me go. He just wants me gone.” His voice broke at the end, and my chest ached. I could see the pain in his eyes, the exhaustion from years of being stuck in that life, the fear of not making it out alive. “Hayden, listen to me. You can’t skip this meeting, I know that. But maybe… maybe there’s another way.” I said quietly. He frowned slightly. I was scared not to have hurt him further. He inhaled deeply and his face loosened before he talked. “Another way?” I nodded slightly and drew in a deep breath before I started to talk. "Ashley I am not sure that you understand the message that I am trying to pass here. You don't understand the extent to which these people are willing to go to get rid of me." He explained quickly
