Lacy’s POV Jake opens the car door for me, and I slide in the front passenger seat. “Are you ready?” Jake smiles at me as he buckles his seatbelt. “Yes,” I sigh, then I quickly give him a forced smile. The truth is much more complicated than that. Am I ready to go back to living with wolves? Yes. Am I ready to face the difficulties that lie ahead? Absolutely not. Yet, being with Jake gives me such a sense of calm, the feeling that everything just might be okay. Jake is so strong, and though he won’t show it, I can feel he shares the same nervous energy as me right now. There are so many unanswered questions between us and neither of us know what the future holds. I take a deep breath and remind myself to take it day-by-day, and to take each moment as it comes.
