SAMANTHA
Though I had my suspicions, I didn't want to jump into conclusions. After all, this was the royal palace. No one would be that insane to actually have s*x in the royal garden when a party was going on unless they were mad.
Curiosity made me follow the odd sounds.
I peeked between some plants in front of me and my eyes widened at the sight.
“Alpha Conrad?” I gasped and though I was barely audible, he seemed to have heard me as his head snapped up and he looked in my direction. Our eyes locked despite the obstruction between us and what was worse than catching the Alpha of White Claw pack having s*x with a random noble lady in the open was the fact that my wolf began to scream “mate” the moment our eyes locked.
My whole body shut down instantly as I froze in shock. Alpha Conrad was my fated mate? Gracious moon goddess and I just had to find out this way?
The moment I got myself back, I spun around and ran away with my legs almost touching the back of my head. I didn't know how to feel seeing my fated mate having s*x in the open after just catching my chosen mate having s*x with my best friend a few days ago.
“Oh moon goddess, why does my mate have to be that psycho?” I slapped my cheeks as I hurried to the banquet hall. I thought that if I slapped myself hard enough, I’d wake up from this nightmare.
I couldn't find Elara immediately so I took out my phone and texted her that I would be going home first. With that, I went to the parking lot to look for our driver.
“Princess Samantha? What are you doing here? I don't think the banquet is over,” he inquired as he walk to open door of the car open for me.
“It's not but I'm not feeling too good so I want to head home now,” I lied to him. It's not like I could explain what I just saw.
“Will Lady Elara be coming too?” He asked.
“No, it will just be me,” I answered. With a nod, he opened the door for me and I got in without hesitation. The last thing I wanted was to run into Alpha Conrad again and do just knew that it would happen if I return to the party. I was not sure I’ll be able to stop myself from throwing up if he was to approach me smelling like the cheap perfume of another woman.
Once Elara’s house came into view, I let out a sigh of relief. I was more than grateful to be back here and away from that party.
“Why was I so unlucky?” I asked myself as I sat at the private bar in the mansion with my head against the counter.
I grabbed a bottle of alcohol and poured myself a drink. Why was I unlucky in relationships? First I get cheated on and now, my mate turns out to be that psycho Alpha, Conrad.
“I'm going to go crazy at this rate,” I clutched my hair before chugging down the shot I had poured myself.
I drank so much that I could barely remember where I was. I felt my body rocking from side to side. I was floating on a bubble.
“Sam?”
“ Just leave me alone,” I groaned.
“Sam?” I heard my name more clearly now. I opened my eyes slowly and hesitantly to see who it was.
“Sam, did something happen?” It was Elara and her husband staring down at me.
“Oh, it's you,” I sat up and rubbed my eyes as I hiccuped. Contrary to what I had assumed and expected, I wasn't as drunk as I thought I'd be. To be honest, I was barely even drunk, tipsy would be the word.
“Why are you drinking? I've never seen you drink before,” Elara looked very concerned about me.
“Oh, that's true. I wasn't allowed to drink more than a glass of alcohol and that was only during formal events,” I chatted away.
“Honey, I'll take care of things here, you can go ahead without me,” she turned to Harold who nodded his head. He patted my head then kissed her briefly before leaving us alone.
“It's like you're rubbing it in my face,” I squinted my eyes at her.
“And I can assume that this is related to why you left?” She folded her arms.
“Uhm… probably,” I mumbled.
“What did you do for my crazy cousin to be looking for you?” She sat down next to me and looked me in the eye. Her grey eyes boring through me.
“W-what cousin?” I stuttered as my heart dropped.
“Conrad. Alpha Conrad,” she specified. “He came back into the banquet hall around the same time i got the message that you were leaving and described a girl he was looking for here whose description matched yours so I'm asking what you did to get his attention?” she stared and waited patiently for my response.
“Didn't you say that I stand out too much?” I mumbled. “Maybe he just thought I looked unique,” I added.
“Yes, I did but from the way he described you, it didn't seem like he took note of your dress color because he could not say what exactly you were wearing which simply meant, he didn't see you in the banquet hall,” she was very analytical.
“I accidentally spilled my drink on him and then ran away,” I could not tell where the lie came from but I was grateful the idea occurred to me because no way was I telling her the whole truth right now. I needed time to regroup. “I really didn't mean to but he's kinda intimidating and I didn't want to have to deal with his temper since he looked like he had one so I ran away,” I added.
“Ha, I'm not surprised,” she sighed. I guess she bought my lie. “His temper is something else. I can't believe he was looking for you just because of that. He’s so petty.”
“Can you please not tell him that it's me?” I asked her.
“I didn't even say a word in the banquet hall when I knew he was describing you?” She raised a brow.
“You're the best, Elara,” I hugged her tightly seeming to have forgotten that even if Elara did not tell him, others ill.
“And you smell like alcohol,” she pushed me away.
“It's not that bad, I only had one bottle,” I murmured.
“Just go to bed now,” she acted like she was my mother.
“I don't feel like it,” I refused. “How about we just talk all night here?”
“ I have places to be tomorrow and I don't want to talk to a semi-drunk person unless the person in question is ready to share in detail what made her run all the way to my house and pack,” she subtly hinted at the fact that she was still waiting to hear what had happened from me.
“On a second thought, goodnight,” I quickly stopped embracing her and said rigidly.
“You really don't want to spill yet, do you?” She was amused by my persistence to keep it away from her. “I'll be heading to bed then,” she patted my head before leaving, reminding me that I too needed to rest.
