Cecilia Cooper had a class at one o'clock in the afternoon, but she had rushed out that morning and forgotten two important documents. "Miss, I want to drive fast too, but it's Christmas today, and with all this traffic jam, how can anyone hurry?" What usually took half an hour had turned into fifty minutes, clearly showing just how bad the traffic was. Seeing that she was about to be late, Cecilia had no choice but to call Miss Gray to see if she could switch her class with hers. Miss Gray didn’t ask many questions and readily agreed. Cecilia sighed in relief; Miss Gray's class was at three o'clock, so she still had plenty of time. As she pushed open the gate, she was surprised to find a large crowd gathered. Confused, she asked, "Who are you?" Hearing her voice, a middle-aged man in his forties stepped forward and looked at her. "Are you the former owner of this place?" Cecilia immediately caught the key point in his words. "What do you mean by the former owner?" "Is it hard to understand my question? You used to own this house, but starting today, I am the owner here," the man replied. "What are you talking about? We haven't sold this house; you must be mistaken!" Cecilia insisted. "Miss, take a look at this document..." The middle-aged man handed her a piece of paper. As she reached for the document, her expression grew darker the further she read. Her face turned pale, and her fingers clenched the paper tightly, as if she were about to tear it apart. It was clear that the man handed her a resale contract, already signed by both parties, with the payment completed and notarized with a seal. Cecilia Cooper's face turned pale as she realized the severity of the situation. At this moment, she knew that no matter what she said, it would be useless. The only thing she could do was accept the fact. "Um, we haven't found a place to stay yet. Could you give us a few more days?" Her only strategy now was to buy some time; even an extra day could give her a chance to come up with a solution. The middle-aged man pulled back the contract. "I'm sorry, but we don't have anywhere to stay either." "Just one day, please?" Cecilia pleaded. "We haven't moved our things out yet, and it wouldn't be convenient for you to move in either, right?" "We have to move in whether it’s convenient or not. Or are we supposed to sleep outside tonight? Miss, you shouldn't worry about us; you should be thinking about where to put your stuff! I was just about to call you when you showed up." As he spoke, Cecilia noticed several movers coming out, carrying her bed out from her room. This was all happening so suddenly—where was she supposed to find a place for all her belongings? Grinding her teeth, she turned to the middle-aged man and begged, "Look, I really haven't found a place yet. How about this: you let me use one room to store my things for now? I promise I'll move out by tomorrow. Please?" Looking at her expression, the middle-aged man softened a bit and finally spoke, "Alright, but you have to move out by tomorrow!" "Absolutely, I promise!" After helping to tidy up the room, it was already three o'clock, time for class. But Cecilia Cooper was not in the mood to check the time. Wiping the sweat from her forehead, she dialed Tessa Kelly's number, her anger surging like a massive wave. However, a sweet voice reminded her that the line was busy and to please try again later. She called five times in total, and without exception, Tessa was clearly ignoring her! Cecilia's chest heaved with frustration as she gritted her teeth and typed out a message: "Tessa, are you busy right now? My brother just called to say that because of the New Year, his salary and bonus have been combined and the money has already been transferred to my account. He left me three hundred bucks for Christmas gifts, and the rest is for you. If you don’t call me back soon, don’t blame me for keeping it all to myself! " After finishing the message, she even added a smiley face at the end, but her knuckles were already turning white from gripping her phone so tightly. Meanwhile, in a smoke-filled room, Tessa Kelly was playing poker. Hearing the notification of a new message, she pulled out her phone to take a look. Tessa Kelly furrowed her brows, feeling a bit puzzled. Didn’t the new owner say they were moving in today? Could it be that Cecilia Cooper didn’t know about it? After thinking it over, she realized it was possible. Maybe the new owner suddenly decided to postpone their move by a day, so it made sense that Cecilia was unaware. But what was the deal with that pathetic man transferring money to his sister's account? She couldn’t reach him by phone right now, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t use his bank card. What was going on? With a low curse, Tessa called Cecilia Cooper back, her voice bright and cheerful. "Cecilia! I just saw your message. Didn’t you say you wanted to eat at Haidilao? I’ll be waiting for you in front of the Haidilao on Construction Road. Okay, I’ll hang up now, so hurry up!" During the call, Tessa paid close attention to Cecilia's tone. From start to finish, Cecilia’s voice remained calm and normal, just like always, which finally put Tessa’s mind at ease. She tossed aside the pokers and headed to the newly opened Haidilao on Construction Road. After waiting for about twenty minutes at the entrance, she finally spotted Cecilia getting out of a taxi. Instantly, Tessa Kelly's face lit up with a smile as she approached in her high heels. "You are finally here!" Cecilia Cooper quietly paid the taxi driver, her eyes swirling with tumultuous emotions, flames of anger burning fiercely within her. Turning around, she raised her hand and, with all her might, slapped Tessa Kelly hard across the face. The slap was indeed powerful, sending Tessa staggering backward several steps. Her high heel twisted awkwardly, and she fell to the ground. Passersby paused in surprise before gathering around, eagerly watching the unfolding drama. Caught off guard, Tessa was momentarily stunned. It took her a moment to realize that Cecilia was deliberately trying to provoke her! Fuming with anger, Tessa cursed under her breath as she got back on her feet, covering her red and swollen face with one hand. She feigned innocence and looked at Cecilia. "What are you doing, Cecilia? I’m your sister-in-law!" Cecilia glared at her, wishing she could slap her again. Gritting her teeth, she said, "Are you still pretending to be innocent?" Her patience had reached its limit, and she could no longer hold back! "Pretending? What do you mean by that, Cecelia? I don’t understand!" Tessa shook her head, playing the victim. All the passersby around were staring at Cecilia Cooper, whispering and pointing fingers, filled with accusations. But at that moment, Cecilia couldn’t see anyone but Tessa Kelly. All sense of reason and calm had completely vanished! "I really don’t understand. What did I do wrong?" Tessa Kelly continued to play innocent.
