Kaelis’ pov
I was running.
I was running in the woods… but I wasn’t running away from danger, instead I was laughing and alive.
A good time.
“You need to slow down, Crimson,” a voice called out from the woods.
“No chance,” I said giggling, turning back, then I headed forward but stopped when I got to a cliff. The water flowed from the mountain in a narrow line into the vast river that in turn flowed into the sea.
The beauty of nature had always left me mesmerized and the goddess did indeed do a great job.
“You are trying to make me fail the test?” The voice called out from the woods again.
It felt familiar like I knew who the voice had belonged to but couldn’t place a name or face.
“Come see this,” I beckoned the person to come and look at the beauty of nature that I was soaking in. “Isn’t it beautiful?”
“Yes, it is,” the voice finally came out from the woods and his face shined with the light— so bright I couldn’t see who it was but I was happy.
Heck, the happiest that I had been in a really long time.
“We’ve been here… like what? A hundred times and you still get surprised by it.” The voice said.
“Well, I love it here because you brought me here the first time and this was the place you had told me you loved me,” I replied. My voice was softer now as I giggled like a little child.
“Love, I still do love you a lot, Crimson,” the voice assured me as he dragged me nearer and planted a kiss on my lips.
His lips were so soft and they tasted like cherry as I got lost in it. I held him tight as the kiss got deeper— our tongues swirling each other and he sucked on my tongue hard, causing me to moan into his mouth.
I had never felt like this before— never had I been this happy before but I loved it there and didn’t want it to end. I wanted to get lost in his scent and drown in our love whilst forgetting everything else.
Nothing else mattered anymore, just us two.
“Wake up, Kaelis.” A tiny voice had called me out and their feeling had jolted me back to life.
My eyes slowly opened to accommodate the ray of light that hit me first before the image that hit me— it was a pillow beside me.
Hold on, what just happened?
Was that a dream?
It felt real…
I took a quick scan of my body and then the room— it was different from my room and way spacious… too spacious.
The room was arranged in a beige color and that was soothing but what caught my attention were the attention to details. The curtains were all white and cream but they were all knotted the same way.
How did I get here?
Oh my God!
I tried to stand up slowly, without waking up anybody who might have been asleep but my legs betrayed me as it gave way immediately I stepped on the floor and I met the floor in a loud thud. Still, nobody came.
I tiptoed out of the bedroom but stood by the door frame and scanned the living room to avoid any form of life that lived here. Then I walked through the living room and went straight to the door…
“First rule of living with Lycans… Don’t f*****g tiptoe,” a voice came from behind.
I froze in my steps— my hand stuck on the door handle and my eyes blinked multiple times trying to shake the shock away.
“A thank you would have been so nice,” the voice sounded again, this time sharper than before then followed by a loud slurp of coffee— I took a sniff… yes… it smelled like coffee.
I slowly turned around, my head was in shambles— trying to connect the dots of the previous night.
Then I saw him.
Orin.
And he was shirtless.
Fuck! He looked good.
I could not stop my eyes from wandering his sweat soaked body. His abs were so well polished that it could cut your skin and I wanted to touch them. His body radiated a glowing energy that I had not seen in anyone since I had been here and he had a way of always making me speechless— he was f*****g good at it.
“You can keep drooling. I wouldn’t mind,” his voice was calm and deep.
Had it ever been this deep or he was just being cocky?
I straightened my face as a means to mask the heat that was rising inside my body. I cleared my throat. “You aren’t all that. I have seen finer men,” I shot back.
“So, you do agree that I am fine,” he giggled. He took in another loud slurp again. Now it was obvious he was doing it to get my attention.
God! He irked me.
“There are finer…” I cleared my throat. “There are finer men.” I crossed my hand on my chest.
“Yeah, like you can remember,” he snorted as he took yet another louder slurp of coffee.
“You are being an ass,” I snapped at him. My voice was supposed to come out sharper but it came out way softer than I had intended.
I didn’t want him to see me as weak.
I didn’t want him to see me as being fragile.
But my voice kept betraying me. I guess my head obviously is attracted to the stuck up guy.
“I bet you didn’t think I was an ass when you kissed me 2 nights ago.” He raised his left eye brow and it turned something in me.
How can everything about a man be so captivating?
I raised my hand to touch my lips as I tried to recall all that had happened the night I had kissed him and I giggled. But wait…
Two nights?
I had been gone for two nights?
“What… what…” I swallowed but my throat suddenly felt dried. “What do you mean two nights?”
“Oh, you were asleep for two nights—-“
“And you didn’t wake me?” I blurted out. “Why?”
‘She sounds really pissed,’ his Lycan growled.
“Stay out of this. I am talking to him and not you,” I snapped at him.
“You can’t talk to him like that,” Orin cautioned me as he placed the coffee mug on the table.
“You should have woken me up!” I argued.
“Look, I didn’t want to babysit you but Vey said it would be wise to let you rest. Also, you said you didn’t want to be awake since your s*x dreams were peaceful,” Orin protested.
“s*x dreams?”
Fuck!
What did I do… or didn’t do to this man. My eyes flickered to him, meeting his eyes but I quickly peeled them away from his body.
I need to know more.
I need to know what happened and why everything was happening.
There was no way I would have kissed him except…
“You are my mate,” he chuckled as I shot him a sharp look but I was confused. “You didn’t think you were the only one who could hear my thoughts, did you?”
What the f**k!
Did he hear my…
“Everything. From the moment you woke up and how you wanted to touch my abs… which I don’t blame you by the way.” He slowly walked towards me as my breath became shallow and short. “You want to know my favorite part?”
My lips parted but I couldn’t say a word as I moved back till I was up against the wall. I was stuck.
He stood before me with no space in between as his thumb traced my lips and my eyes were stuck on him.
My body went cold and hot at the same time… I couldn’t tell what I was feeling because I wanted him and f**k… he was smiling.
“My favorite part was when you wanted to know how my lips tasted.” His voice was low and sexy— it stirred me on and damn I was getting wet.
His hand gripped my hands, raising them above my head and pinning them to the wall while the other hand raised my face as he took a lick of my lips.
“Hmm…” he bit his lower lip as though he was tasting me. “I want more.”
He placed a kiss on my lips and that sent me to a spiral as I soaked it in. It raged with my desire to kick him out or tell him to stop but I wanted this.
I returned the kiss in the same hunger and I could hear his lycan roar in support.
