Chapter Two

I slowed Phillipe down to a walk and followed the path towards the waterfall. We would always come here when we were trying to escape Aunt Marie's wrath. I let go of the reigns because Phillipe knows where we are going. "I really did it this time Philly. I'm not sure if I'm ever going to be allowed to set foot out of that house ever again..." He snorted in response and kept on walking. Grabbing a piece of his withers and twirling it slightly around my finger I said "But in all honesty... I wish Father and Mother were here. They'd let us do these adventurous things. Aunt Marie is trying to "Tame my spirit and transform me into a proper lady." or whatnot. You know I don't pay that much attention when she speaks, it hurts my ears a lot." He whinnied and I also let out a low chuckle, but suddenly he stopped walking and his ears were up. His body went rigid and larger than he already was, I grabbed the reigns and glanced at our scenery. We were a couple of miles in the woods, it was always cloudy in Mysticlane but today there was a small ray of sunshine peaking through the branches of the oak trees. There was soft green moss growing on the treetrunks and ground with flowers and mushrooms sprouting out. Overall it looked absolutely magical, but the thing was the birds never stopped chirping. I listened closely to hear if there were any birds chirping, and to my dismay, the forest was dead silent. I patted Phillipe's neck and urged him to move forward and we took a few steps, still aware of what was happening in this forest. I heard a twig snap and jerked around seeing nobody behind me. I knew somebody was following me, so I kicked Phillipe softly in his sides and galloped around the corner. I stopped, swung myself over the saddle, and softly landed on the ground. Positioning my bow and arrow in aim. I heard the soft hoofbeats coming from around the corner and I heard them getting closer. I saw the black legs of the horse coming first and quickly said "Halt or I shoot." The horse was frightened by my sudden appearance and jerked back, standing on its hind legs. As for the rider, I couldn't see much because he had a similar blue cloak covering his face. "Woah there girl" he calmed his horse down and let go of the reigns. She jotted off to where Philippe was standing by the waterfall, sipping the crystal clear waters. "Reveal yourself or I shoot," I said menacingly. "Okay first of all, could you stop with the shooting threats second of all I am not going to hurt you, so if you would kindly drop your weapon, that'd be great." His deep voice said as he was waiting for me to drop my bow. I hesitantly did by my feet and he slowly took off his hood, revealing his soft tousled blond hair and grey eyes. It was the sword-fighting guy! He took a step closer, but I glared at him and he stepped back, hands up in a sign of surrender. "Why were you following me?" My voice was laced with anger. "Because I wanted to see if you were alright? And also to congratulate you, because I haven't ever seen a girl fight so good." He said flashing his perfectly straight white teeth. "Well thank you, but I am fine as you can see so you may leave now. Just don't tell anyone you saw me here." I said trying to shoo him away. "Yeah no, I'm not leaving here until you tell me at least three things about you." He said whilst leaning against a tree trunk, smirking. I groaned at his childish behavior but analyzed this situation. I honestly wanted to be left alone at the moment but I knew I couldn't get rid of him before answering his questions. "Okay, if I tell you three things about me, would you do something for me in return without hesitation?" I said hiding my sly smile. He ran a hand through his hair and thought for a second. "That seems like a fair bargain for a small price." "Okay well, my name is Suzanna. I'm a girl. And I live alone." I lied through my teeth. I didn't need this boy befriending me, it would make my escape plan so much harder. He whistled lowly "I know two of those things aren't the truth. So again, I'm not leaving until you tell me three things about yourself." I rolled my eyes "You got me, I am obviously a boy." "Why do you need this much information about me anyways?" I asked suspiciously. "For myself, because you intrigued me." He said with amusement plastered over his face. He suddenly slumped down the trunk and sat comfortably eyeing me and I groaned. "We can sit here all day, or you can tell me three things about you!" He grinned. I heaved a deep sigh "Fine, my name is Ro, I'm 16 and in deep trouble." Crossing my arms I waited for him to get up and go. "Why are you in deep trouble? Is it because of the match?" He asked curiously. I smirked "I don't have to answer you Mr. Whatever your name is, you said three questions only!" Haha yes! No, this sucker can leave me alone. "That's fair, but how rude would it be if you didn't know anything about me!" He said a small smile tugging on the corners of his mouth. "That's quite alright, I will excuse your ignorance for today. If that is all I will take my leave" I mocked him and walked towards Philippe. As I was walking toward the creek I could hear his boots crunching the fallen leaves but I figured the faster I go the faster I can work on my escape plan. As I was about to put my foot in the stirrup, he gripped my waist, picked me up, and walked towards the crystal icy cool waters. I kicked and hit wherever I could but he sure didn't have a reaction to my assault. "Listen here princess, either you let me continue our pleasant conversation, or I through you in the creek and let me remind you how cold those waters can be." He whispered dangerously close to my ear. "I choose option two you stupid ignorant jerkfa-" I screamed and he threw me in the air mid-sentence. Okay so I know this is bad timing, but I can't actually swim that well. My breath got caught up in my throat as the icy cool waters reached my skin. Closing my eyes all I could see was darkness enveloping me, and I kicked to try and keep myself above water, but my legs were giving in. My lungs were burning and I could feel the water filling them. My eyelids became heavy and I slowly closed my eyes. Slipping into unconsciousness. When I opened my eyes I was met in another forest with little sparks of gold and glitter roaming in the air. I walked around hearing my feet pad softly across the forest floor. 'Is this what heaven looks like?' I wondered. Well, I think I am, because I can't see the jerk's face anywhere! Hey at least I died without another whipping from Aunt Marie, so it was a painless death! "You have to wake up! Open your eyes and fight back. It will all still be here one day!" A whimsical voice whispered around me. I looked around trying to see who it came from. "You will visit this place once more, but there is someplace you need to be. Their lives depend on it! You have to save them!" It was more urgent this time. "Wh-what are you talking about? Save WHO?" I yelled. "You shall see, now open your eyes this young man is getting terribly pale!" It said. And in a flash, I was back in the darkness. Gripping the ground beneath me,I felt that it was mossy. Opening my eyes slowly, I coughed up the salty water that burned my lungs! I felt two hands shake my shoulders and my eyes adjusted to the lighting. "Oh thank goodness!" He pulled me to his chest, and the only thing going through my mind was how awkward this situation was. "Uh- too tight... can't breathe Mister..." I tried choking out. He gripped my shoulders firmly and looked me straight in the eye and said "What was that out there?" He said firmly a small frown replacing his carefree face. "Well, it's kind of your fault, because you were the one who threw me in the lake you jerk!" I said suddenly getting mad and prying his fingers off my body. "I thought you could swim!" He said running a hand through his tousled hair. "Aah, that's where the problem lies... you thought. And another thing, do you usually throw girls in an ice-cold lake when they don't want to be in your company?" I said crossing my arms. I raised my brow and my hip popped out a bit, trying to look intimidating. "Only the pretty ones." He joked and smirked at me. I pinched the bridge of my nose, trying to understand why again I'm giving him the time of my day. "Okay, listen Mister..." I clasped my hands together. "Luca, my name's Luca." "Sure whatever, Luca. Okay so I don't know what your problem is, but where I'm from we don't drown people on purpose. And honestly to be flirting with me now is such bad timing. So may I leave now" I said irritatedly and started to walk towards Philippe. He gripped my wrist quickly and forced me to look at him "Look, Ro, I'm so sorry I put your life in danger, but I honestly didn't know. But please, stay a while?" He asked hopefully. Analyzing the situation thoroughly it was either I go back to Dragon lady and get myself whipped or beaten or I could hide out a few hours and talk to this stupid boy. I groaned and finally turned around to face him "Okay fine."
