John sat across from Elder Jameson in his small home. John had been to old man’s home many times, but he never actually recalled looking at his home.
John smiled as he saw picture after picture hanging on the wall of Bao, Sarah and the elder doing different loving family activities with Bao at different ages. It made John happy to know how much his tiny mate was loved while she was growing up. Letting Sarah and Elder Jameson was the right decision and a blessing from the Moon Goddess.
John was lost in the pictures of Bao’s childhood that he didn’t realize Elder Jameson was patiently waiting on him. Finally, the Elder coated his throat, bringing John back into the present and said, “what would you like to talk to me about Young Mac? Bao and Sarah are pretty quick at whipping up some cookies and I have a feeling your question might require some time to answer.”
John felt at ease that the old man seemed willing to answer any questions and wouldn’t hold back information. Patrick had speculated that maybe because the information wasn’t in the family records that Elder Jameson would not be willing or even able to tell him much, but John was there to find out.
“Elder Jameson, you said that the only making that was like mine was John the 1st. Patrick and I have searched all the family archives, but we found very little on him and basically nothing about his mating, not even his mates name. Can you tell me what you know and why you know it?”
Elder Jameson smiled and said, “of course! I can term you as much as I can. As for why I know this, that part is a lot easier than you might expect. You see, my specialty is preserving the McNally past and more importantly, protecting your family legacy. Books are up for interpretation and can also be bias. What happened to John the 1st was so important, so special, he never trusted it to be written. It was too be passé down from elder to elder, until the knowledge was needed to help the family in a time of crisis. I was told his story by someone who was there to witness it. At the time, he was just a child when John the 1st was mated, but he recalled it with amazing detail. John the 1st chose him as the Elder to pass down the tale to future generations because who better to tell this story than from the eyes of an innocent child. He at the time it happened, had pure faith in the Moon Goddess, and my boy, nothing can shake pure faith. Very few are blessed to keep pure faith once they leave childhood. But some are. I was chosen by my Elder as the keeper of the truth because I have been blessed to keep my pure faith. I have never been one to waiver from what I believed as a child, no matter what others say or do around me. That’s why I never allowed Sarah to be cast out. I had a pure faith that she was given to me by the Moon Goddess and who was I do not value her gift. Thank the Goddess I did because that woman has loved me more than I deserve and I know she is why the Goddess blesses us so much. But that’s not why you came today.”
John chuckled a little bit at the sparkle and excitement he still got when he talked about Sarah. He finally understood what Elder Jameson was saying about Sarah being his greatest blessing. He was starting to see that in Bao.
Then he thought about the pure faith of a child. That’s the twins! Nothing, not even their father, shook their faith in the fact that Bao was chosen by the Moon Goddess as their Luna. That’s all they needed and they accepted her, no questions asked, no complaints, no need for understanding why. Simple pure faith. John was amazed! He never realized how special his brothers were until that very moment. He was starting to realize he was missing a lot of valuable characteristics in people around him, and not because he didn’t think they were important, but just because he simply never thought about it. He grew up never being taught the importance of faith. His father only valued strength and perfection and that is what he tried to teach his sons. Thank the Goddess the twins never learned that lesson.
After letting John digest his words, Elder Jameson continued, “ the story of John the 1st is amazing and strange and in a way scary all at the same time. Sit back, and close your eyes and I will open your mind to the past of your Ancestors and hopefully this answers your questions and gives you the answers you need.”
John thought it was strange, but he laid back and closed his eyes as the old man requested. Elder Jameson ran his hands down John’s face, covering his eyes. Suddenly, John felt his body move and his eyes jetted open to find he was no longer in Elder Jameson home, but in a large room staring at 2 people. 1 looked very much like him with thick, deep red hair hanging around his face. The piercing green eyes looked straight at &John, but almost through him. Wait, this man was looking through him, this man couldn’t see him! John started to panic when he felt a warm hand of the second person on his shoulder grabbing his attention. It was Elder Jameson.
“Who is that!” John whispered pointing to the man with the same hair as his.
“That,” Elder Jameson answered, “is John the 1st. I’ve been given the gift to show you this part of your history. You can see it for yourself. So you don’t need to worry of any details are left out or if anything was lost or hidden. I’m an Elder because I’m a seer. A seer of the past so we can learn from past success and past failures. I can show anyone anything from their families past but they must first come to me searching for it. I cannot offer it to them. So my young Alpha. You did all the Moon Goddess requests, you came seeking for answers about your past and had faith to close your eyes and I would show you. You never doubted or questioned. That, my Young Alpha, is pure faith. Now, let me guide you through the secrets and lessons from your past. Let us both go to see the mating of John the 1st.”
