CHAPTER FIVE
One month later
Things continued to progress well for Summer. The judge accepted her plea agreement at a hearing held two weeks earlier, resulting in a $5,000 fine, and a suspension of her license for one year, but no jail time, for which Summer was extremely grateful. Summer called Xavier to tell him the good news, and he congratulated her and offered to take her out to dinner to celebrate. Summer turned down the offer, feeling that they were not in a place in their friendship where they could start hanging out again. She wasn’t certain if they would ever be in that place. Now, her focus was on her relationship with Jesus, and she needed no distractions. And Xavier, no matter what his intentions, would be a big one.
