The banging pain in Aurora’s head was what woke her up. Every muscle in her body ached as she attempted to sit up.
She had to lay still for a few more minutes before attempting to sit up again and as she slowly sat up, the pain was still there; it was still too much and her head was throbbing.
A pained groan escaped from her lips and her eyes slowly opened. It took them a minute to get used to the bright lights that were dangling over her head.
The smell of damp wood filled her nose and she reached out to smooth her dress, but that was when she realized her wrists were bound.
Together above her head, she had been chained to the cold wall behind her.
‘Where am I?’ She wondered quietly.
Her ankles were chained together and panic quickly filled her chest; her breath hitched, she was in trouble.
She had no idea where she was. The last thing she remembered was running away from the pack house and running into the forest, then losing her path. She had wandered away from the pack house.
She also remembered coming across some wolves and they ambushed her. She thinks that was all she could remember. Everything after that was very vague.
She looked around to see if she could find a clue about where she was, but there was nothing. All she could see was that she was in a cage in the middle of a big room and there were high windows in the room she was in.
And because she was chained to a wall, she couldn't even stand up to take a quick peek outside the room.
Before she could think about doing anything, she heard some locks turning and the door was pushed open.
“Wakey, Wakey!!!” A gruff voice mocked her.
Aurora’s eyes darted around the small room and three men who she didn't recognize came in one after the other and stood in front of her.
She took a good look at their faces to see if she recognized them from anywhere, but their faces didn't look familiar.
They were all strangers and there was nothing but hatred in their eyes; they were also dressed in rags.
One of the three men, he was the largest among them, stepped closer to her before crouching down to her level.
He studied her for a minute and Aurora wished she could disappear at that moment; his scrutinizing gaze made her uncomfortable in so many ways.
He was looking at her like a predator was looking at prey before attacking.
“Didn't think we would find a pretty little thing like you wandering the woods alone.” He started before opening the door to the cage and stepping in.
He gripped her chin and made her look into his eyes forcefully, “Tell me, what were you doing by yourself in the woods? Where did you come from?”
Aurora jerked her head away; although she was incredibly afraid, she didn't allow it to show on her face, “What do you want with me?”
She tried to sound brave, but with the way her whole body was trembling, it was very obvious that she was scared.
“You are exactly what we need; we'll use you as leverage; we should get a good reward for this.” One of the men said outside.
Aurora was lost, get a reward? What does that mean?
“Who sent you?” She demanded, the trembling of her voice getting more, too.
The man who was bent down in front of her in the cage only laughed and stood up. “That's none of your business princess. You don't need to worry about that. Just know, you're valuable.”
So someone did send them after her, but who could it be? Could it be Damon? Hadn't he done enough by rejecting her in front of everyone? Could he really be behind this?
Or maybe this was a pack war? Maybe a rival pack had attacked, and she had been unlucky to get caught in the middle of it.
Whatever was going on was not her business. All she wanted was to leave.
“Please let me go. "I promise I won't cause you any more trouble. "You won't even come across me again.” She pleaded with them.
But her pleas did the opposite of what they were supposed to do; instead, the man's smile faded, and it was replaced by the angry and sharp glare that was on his face a few minutes ago.
“Shut up. "You'll only speak when we speak to you.” Aurora was shocked by his sudden change in attitude. She moved away from him.
“We'll be back.” Someone in the room finally said after a period of long silence, and they all left the room, the door slamming shut behind them.
And she was left alone in the silence.
She slid down against the wall, tears slipping down her face.
“Why is this happening to me? "What did I do to deserve this?” She whispered, her voice breaking with every word coming out.
Aurora had no idea how long she had been unconscious before she woke up and neither did she know how many hours or days passed by afterward.
She had lost track of time.
All she knew was when the sun rose and when it set again.
Her kidnappers didn't give her any answers either, they only gave her enough food to keep her alive and water too. She remained locked in her cage, her body ached from the cold every night.
With every moment she spent locked in the cage, she lost more hope. She wondered if her pack members were even looking for her. She wondered if anyone missed her.
Her mind wandered back to the humiliation she suffered from Damon just before she left; she still couldn't wrap her head around the fact that Damon had done that to her; she had experienced several emotions since she had been locked in the cage.
One night, as Aurora sat in the corner of her cell with heavy and teary eyes, she heard voices just outside her cell and the voices sounded different from the ones she had gotten used to hearing.
“He's coming.” Someone whispered just outside the door, with two figures coming to a stop right in front of her door.
She could conveniently hear everything they were saying.
“Who?” the other voice asked.
“The Alpha.”
The moment the word left their lips, she felt a cold shiver all over her body; it was not a good feeling; she couldn't help but be curious about this alpha.
The figures left her door afterward and went somewhere else.
A few minutes later, she heard heavy footsteps coming in her direction, and before she could blink, the door was pulled open, and a man stepped in.
The man was not like anyone she had ever seen; his aura was far more domineering than that of Damon’s. That; that was how powerful his presence was.
He was tall and dressed in black from head to toe and when his piercing red eyes made contact with hers, time stopped and everything else disappeared.
Aurora was breathless, she felt something in her chest, it was like a strange pull deep inside her chest.
She watched as the Alpha looked at her, all of her, in her dirty, bruised and trembling state. She was expecting him to say something, but he said nothing.
He only stared at her, gazing deeply into her eyes, almost like he was trying to read her soul.
Then, finally, after a long period of silence, he opened his mouth and spoke, “You're the one they captured?” His voice was deep and smooth.
Aurora took a few steps away from him before opening her mouth to answer, “Who are you?”
There was something about him; he wasn't like any Alpha she had ever met or even heard of; there was something dangerous but enticing about him.
The alpha didn't answer her. Instead, he turned to the guards, “Unlock her. Right now,” he commanded.
The guards hesitated at first, “But Alpha…. "
“I'm very sure I didn’t stutter or did I?” he said, his voice coming out in a dangerous growl.
Immediately, they rushed forward and unchained Aurora’s wrists and ankles. Aurora tried standing up when she was free, but she fell down immediately again; she was too weak to stand on her own.
The Alpha rushed to her side immediately, and he lifted her off the ground easily, like she weighed nothing at all. His arms were warm, and he was gentle with her, too.
“Why are you helping me? "Who are you?” Aurora asked quietly as she rested her head on his chest.
The Alpha looked down on her, and she watched his eyes darken, “I'm helping you because you belong to me now.”
Aurora knew she heard him wrong, but before she could protest, everything went dark again.
When she woke up, she woke up in this beautiful-looking room, and she was on a soft bed, surrounded by clean sheets and a warm pillow; she couldn't even remember the last time she was this comfortable.
And a part of her didn't believe any of this was real, maybe she was in some kind of dream.
But the door opened and the mysterious Alpha she saw earlier walked in again, leaning so casually on the door, watching her with the same piercing look.
“You're awake. Good.” He started.
Aurora sat up on the bed. “Where am I now? "And who are you?” She demanded again.
“Welcome to my pack, Aurora; my name is Alpha Xavier Snow. I won't hurt you, I promise, you're under my protection now.”
Aurora didn't understand any of what he was saying. “I don’t understand, why me?”
“Because you belong to me from now on, I completely own you Aurora.” He answered with darkened eyes.
