Chapter 34 – Meeting the parents, Part 2 Ivys POV We left the house, locking the front door and got into my parents’ car. My dad was adamant that Jasper sat in the front with him, and my mum was to sit in the back with me. Jasper said he didn’t mind when I argued, but I knew my dad would ask him a tonne of questions and I was right. That continued most of the night. We had gone to a Chinese restaurant and ordered a bunch of different dishes that we could all share. I knew Jasper was holding back so I kept putting things on his plate. “So, Jasper.” “For god’s sake dad, let up on him.” I snarled, getting angry at how much my dad had questioned him tonight. “Ivy…” Jasper said gently, squeezing my hand and I felt tingles flow through them again. The mate bond, right? “Its fine, your dad is just worried about you, especially with my reputation in the past that you and Jesse would talk about.” I saw my dad smile and nod in appreciation. “Go ahead, sir.” “You finish school in what, two months…” I nodded, glaring at him. “So, what I want to know it, whats the plan after then?” Jasper seemed to think a moment. “The truth is, I love Ivy. I think I always have and that’s why I lashed out at her and her friends. I know Ivy wants to travel and take a year off of studying.” I saw my mum smile and my dad nodded; his face serious. I hed my breath. “Well, I plan on going with her to keep her safe. Not that she needs me to but for my piece of mind. I will support her and stay with her before we both look for a university. Hopefully, very close together or the same one. I have no intentions of leaving Ivys side for as long as I am able to stay there, or she wants me there.” I hadn’t breathed yet and my mum was staring my dad down. “Thank you for being honest Jasper.” I was ready to shout at my dad again but before I could. “It seems like you do know Ivy very well. She’s strong and hot headed sometimes, she will need someone by her side. She has always told us she wants to travel for a year before she went to university and we are happy to let her do that, but I must admit I was worried for her, even though I know she can hold her own.” I let out the breath I had been holding and my mum was smiling again. “Don’t get me wrong sir, I have no intention of being her night in shining armour. I believe she can 100% look after herself. However, I want to be by her side for my piece of mind and travel too. I want to make sure she sees everything she wants to. I want to make sure she sees things she doesn’t even want to.” Jasper smiled and turned to me, taking my hand. “I love her dearly and always have.” “Call me Alex, son.” I turned to my dad with my mouth hanging open and so did my mum. Dad had never taken to someone so quickly. “I feel like I’ve known you a lot longer than a few hours son. I’m glad you finally realised how you let about Ivy and stopped acting like a douche.” “Dad!” I shouted and everyone was laughing. We finished our meal, and it was a lot more relaxed since dad had asked Jasper about the trip and I must admit it made things a lot easier to have the conversation now instead of as it was happening. When we had all finished and couldn’t eat another bite, we decided to pay the bill. My father and Jasper argued over who would pay it and dad ended up winning, stating Jasper could save his money to spoil me and Jasper laughed and agreed. My parents walked to the car in front of us and we hung back, holding hands and whispering about the evening. “I think you won him over.” I whispered, smiling. “I know. I honestly didn’t think I would. I know what hes like…” Jasper laughed when we were nearly at the car. Jasper had agreed to say goodbye to me here and run home, so he was hopefully home before us. “Jasper, honey?” We heard a lovely, floaty voice shout out from a car in the car park. Jasper turned to the voice and his eyes widened. A beautiful woman with long flowing white blonde hair and piercing blue eyes was starting to get out of a white, Mercedes car and walking towards us. “Jasper?” I asked, already knowing the answer. “Mum?” Jasper asked, confused. “I came to pick you up from your date honey and maybe meet your girlfriend’s parents briefly.” She smiled and I knew Jaser had told me she was a Luna, the leader alongside the Alpha of Jaspers pack. She definitely commanded authority. My mother and father walked over smiling, having hear the conversation. “OK…” Jasper said, looking between her and my parents. “Mother, this is Mr Alex Lewis and Mrs Patricia Lewis. And obviously this is Ivy Lewis.” He said, turning incredibly formal. I knew he was feeling a huge mix of emotions right now. His mother held out her hand and introduced herself. “Its so lovely to finally meet you. Weve heard a lot about Ivy.” She said, turning to smile at me and I felt like there was more to that comment than she was implying. “I’m Sienna Iris.” “Pleasure!” My mum said. “Its nice to meet you.” My dad said and he seemed a little standoffish, almost as if he could sense her commanding aura too. “Well, ill be in the car when youre finished son and you can tell me all about tonight.” She smiled and waved her goodbyes, getting back into the car. Jasper looked like he wanted to hyperventilate. “Yeah, we will be in the car too guys. Goodnight Jasper, thanks for a lovely evening.” My mum smiled, assuming I would want to say goodbye to Jasper on my own. They headed to the car, waving goodbye too. I turned to Jasper who looked like he was in shock. “Are you ok?” I asked. He didn’t answer straight away but finally looked at me and smiled. “Yes and no. This is going to be a long night. I might be back late.” “I’ll make excuses, don’t worry.” I smiled, sadly. “Are you sure youre ok?” “Yes, its my mother. I haven’t seen her for 11 years, but I feel her love for me. I’m only worried over you because the way she said she had heard everything about you, I can only assume Sera has told her things…” He ran his hand through his hair, taking a deep breath. “Don’t worry about it. We can deal with anything. I promise.” I said, grabbing his hand and squeezing it in reassurance. He smiled and turned to drag me into a hug. “I know we can. Thank you, Ivy. I love you.” He said and he hugged me tightly before kissing me on the forehead. “I want to kiss you properly, but I know both parents are watching us.” He chuckled and I giggled too. “Good night, Jasper, you know where I am if you need me.” I said and stood on my tiptoes to kiss him on the cheek and giving his hand one last squeeze before heading to my parent’s car. I turned back to see him walking slowly to the car and constantly looking back at me. I didn’t get in my car until he was in his mum’s front passenger seat, and they had driven off.
