Chapter 22 – Plans scuppered? Ivy’s POV The keyring from Jasper was beautiful. I knew, given how I had been feeling lately, that tears were threatening to spill over at the thought of losing my wolf. Ive told you; you won’t. My conscience told me. I ignored the voice and dragged Jasper inside the venue. The venue was a large hall that had been hired out for me. It was large enough to hold around 100 people even though there were only about 50 people I had invited and around 20 of them were family who would be leaving halfway through the night. The room was decorated in various shades of purple, pink and green. There were flowers and a wall of climbing vines with lights that we would use to take pictures, there was a box of props at the side of it. There was a bar that had been set up in the venue and a stage with a DJ on with flashing lights. Although there wasn’t a separate dancefloor there was an area that had been set aside for it and blocked off with poles and vines hanging between them. I smiled and looked around for Tracker. It was time for me to see both Jasper and Jasp in the same room. I was sick of feeling like I was going crazy or that I was having a breakdown, believing that maybe there were other worlds out there. “You said Tracker had Jasp?” I asked Jasper, looking up at him to see his reacting but he seemed cool and calm. I sighed heavily. “Yeah, your mum was telling him to behave and Tracker sad he would take care of him.” I bit my lip because Tracker was supposed to be watching Jasper not my wolf, that was Jesse’s job. I looked at Jesse again and she rolled her eyes and went to find Tracker and Jasp. “OK, I’m sure they will find us soon. I know you aren’t 18 yet but I’m sure no one will notice if you have a drink with me, right?” I giggled mischievously, dragging him towards the makeshift bar that had been set up in the hall. He seemed to frown but followed me because I knew there was no way I would be able to drag him if he actually didn’t want to come. I had the idea that if werewolves were real, which they weren’t, that if I got Jasper drunk then his wolf form would also be drunk. I knew my grin was massive as I handed him a mimosa from the table next to the bar that had loads made up. Jaspers POV I took the drink, and I knew exactly what she was thinking. She was planning something as her face had the biggest “evil” grin on it and putting two and two together I assumed she was planning on getting me drunk and seeing if my wolf form would also get drunk. Onyx began laughing in my head. It was extremely hard for us to get drunk on human alcohol and he knew it. I smiled and downed the drink. I saw her eyes go wide for a few seconds as her grin disappeared. Her eyebrows furrowed and she pouted a little before remembering who she was talking to and putting a smile back on her face. I chuckled, knowing her moods but laughing because she didn’t know I did. “Whats funny?” I shook my head. “Nothing, I’m just glad you seem to be so happy.” She blushed and this took me a little off guard. She never seemed shy around me. “Id be happier if I could find my bloody wolf and Tracker.” There was my usual Ivy and I smiled. “We’ll find them, don’t worry.” Suddenly her phone dinged from her bag, and she got it out and frowned at it. “Everything ok?” She just hummed at me and started replying furiously. I hoped what Tracker had done worked. Trackers POV I was going to strangle Jasper. The original plan was for me to look after Jesse, keep her distracted and Jasper would flit between human and wolf form, but no. Ivy had become suspicious so here I was in wolf form, in the dark hallways of the venue, luring Jesse around. She was shouting me, and I kept yipping but refused to go to her. I had to stay in the shadows though as my wolf was pure black, except for a blue patch on my nose, so she would instantly know I wasn’t Jasper. I could tell she was getting annoyed and had huffed before stopping in one of the hallways to text, who I presumed, was Ivy. Good, she would know there was a wolf being followed even if he was being defiant. I mind linked Jasper and et him know that phase two would start soon. Ivy’s POV I looked at Jasper and felt my heart break. So, Jesse was currently following Jasp around the building and had seen him whilst I stood with Jasper. I don’t know why but I felt a wave of sadness before something in my head and chest told me that I was missing something. I was so sure. You need to just as Jasper. My conscience told me, and I knew it was right, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. We had spent years no getting a long, he was a bit of a jerk, and I liked him despite it and acted out. There was always something dragging me back to him and I acted harsh to stop myself going there, especially when everyone at school hated him. I looked at Jasper who had grabbed another mimosa and was smiling at everyone who walked past. I looked at him whilst he was distracted. He had gone above and beyond tonight, not wearing his usual grungy clothes, which I didn’t actually mind. They suited him but I would ever tell him that. He had even gelled his usual wild ashy blonde hair back. He looked like every sports hero at school, and I smiled. He was attractive, that was for sure. He towered over me at over 6ft tall, and I knew he was athletic, but he wasn’t huge like some of the jocks on the football team. I sighed quietly. “Whats up Ivy?” Jasper asked. I was shocked he had heard me. “Oh, Jaspers being a bugger. I think I might need to get him.” Jasper looked at me but didn’t seem alarmed. “Maybe because hes always been a lone wolf, the party is a little much for him?” He asked and it did actually make sense. I bit my lip, wondering if my mum was right and I should have left him at home. Suddenly, the lights in the hall went out and I heard a bark followed by a few voices of alarm. When the lights came back on, Jasper wasn’t with me, but Jasp was on top of the food table, eating the steak. There were a few screams but mostly everyone knew Jasper and although my dad and now Tracker were trying to wrestle Jasp off the table, a lot of people were laughing. I was a little annoyed but smiled. He had wanted that steak all afternoon and had been such a good boy about it. And whilst I was annoyed, he had jumped up onto the table, he looked like he had been extra careful to not touch any of the other food. “JASPER LEWIS!” I shouted at the top of my voice, and I immediately saw his ears drop and his tail go between his legs. He hopped off the table and came towards me very slowly. I signalled my dad and Tracker over then signalled everyone to carry on having a good time and the music started back up. I got down to his level. “I’m not really mad with you, but you can’t do that.” I said calmly to him as my mother strode over. “Ivy…” she said as she crossed her arms. “I know mum. You’ve got to go home Jasper. I promised you would behave and you, well, kind of didn’t.” He looked sad again before I pressed my forehead against his. “I still love you, but next time just steal some and run off with it.” He immediately wagged his tail and licked my cheek once. I chuckled and heard both Tracker and my dad laugh before my dad stifled it upon seeing my mums face. “I’ll take him home.” My dad said and he signaled for Tracker to follow him. “I’ll walk you out.” Tracker said and went with him. Jasper followed but kept looking back and me and I smiled but then sighed. An annoyed Jesse was walking towards me.
