“David!” Miguel yelled out to him.
David glanced over, his face looking pale and full of fear. Breathless, he tried to quicken his pace, but trembling legs and slippery terrain held him back. Every time he tried to put his foot down harder, his body almost slipped.
“Don't come near me!” David shouted, his voice hoarse. He turned his head again with a wild look. “I don't want to talk to you, Miguel!”
