Dalia keeps on hovering beside me. We were all walking towards the main center for the meeting Elijah was talking about.
There were so many more trainees than I thought. I never imagined it like this. The main center is located below the floor we just went to. Eleventh floor. And it was like the whole floor was meant to be the playground. There were only benches in the corners and it is spacious in the middle where everyone is gathered now.
I wouldn't be surprised to know if they celebrate their parties here. That's how huge it is.
"Woah, this is huge," I whispered. Still wandering my eyes around.
I heard Dalia wincing beside me. "Really, where are you from? Is this your first time seeing the interior of a building?"
I have been in our company and it is also one of the biggest companies in the country.
"For this coming week, MNM Entertainment will open an audition for aspiring youths who want to show their talents around the world."
Everyone cheered.
"Yes! I knew it," Dalia exclaimed.
"Why are you so happy?" I asked, confused.
She then faced me. " A new audition means a new group to debut. You see him?" He pointed to the guy whom I heard sing awhile ago. "He will debut soon."
"What's so special about it?"
She facepalm in front of me. My forehead creased. She gave me a look like I was the dumbest person in the whole wide world.
"That is what everyone wants, duh. Don't you want to debut? Isn't that why we are spending three years in training?"
My mouth circled in realization.
"Oh, yeah.",
Well, I kind of forgot about that. Seriously, what's important right now is I am inside this company. That is the only thing I can think of.
" And since our latest project was a success. Let me introduce to you our new learner. Emily and Christian."
"Yeah!" Dalia pushed me over and over so I had no choice but to step in.
I walked in front and so was the guy who was named Christian.
They all yelled at us. Mr. Miller explained how we got in and yet we still needed a proper audition.
After the announcement and a slight meeting about the upcoming audition, everyone gets ready for their practice again.
I do not know everyone here aside from Dalia, who had already left me, so it was hard to talk to others.
I was about to take a step back to the studio when a group of girls stopped me.
"I heard you are a Williams," says the girl in the middle.
I couldn't tell if she was rude or what. Her eyes give off the boldness in her, but her angelic face says otherwise.
"I know the four Williams families in the country. They are all closely known. Are you related to one of them?"
I am related to the most successful Williams.
I stared at all of them. They don't seem like baddies. And surely the entertainment doesn't condone such an attitude, right?
"I am-"
"Is that why you got in easily?" asked another one, who made me stop.
At first, I don't see anything wrong with telling them who I really am. But now that I hear that thought of them, it scares me.
All I want is to reach my dream and somehow make some friends. But what if my rich parents and my family name could be the one to build the barrier between me and the other trainees?
I sighed heavily. I looked up at them and gave off a slight smile.
"I am not related to them."
It is the best thing other than being left out.
They don't have anything to do with me being a Williams, anyway. Besides, this will be for the best. In that case, rumors won't spread to my family.
The girl in the middle widely smiled at me and even offered her hand.
"Great. I am Fiona. Nice to meet you, Emily."
We shake hands.
"Nice to meet you."
"The contest must be tough, right? Our school was chosen too, but none of those who participated got picked. I think you really are that good."
"R-really? It was...pretty tough."
She giggled. "You're so humble! By the way, that Christian, do you know him?"
"N-no. Not really." I shook my head.
"That's sad. I find him cute." All of them giggled like teen girls all crushing on one person.
I don't know what to say. It was so awkward.
"Do you want to eat with us, Emily? There's a small cafeteria on the third floor."
I scratched my forehead. "I will see. I still need to talk with Mr. Miller."
"Oh, yes! I'm sorry, I forgot. We can eat some other time. You should finish all the things you need first."
"Y-yeah. I guess so."
"Okay. See you!"
They all waved their hands, so I did the same thing. I want friends but I think this is not the right time yet. Gosh, that was so awkward.
I ran to the studio and immediately stopped when I saw no one.
"Huh? I thought they were practicing?"
Is there another practice room? Or are they in the recording room?
I was about to go out when I saw the keyboard ready to be played. I sighed heavily and didn't fight with my urge to try it.
I sat on the chair and tried tapping a tile. My brow shot up when it worked.
"Hm. It's on."
I played one rhythm, then stopped. I closed my eyes and played for real this time. I sang the song I picked back at the contest. That is the song I can play on both guitar and piano.
It felt like the light inside the room dimmed and there was a spotlight pointing at me so I could see the tiles clearly.
The rhythm of the keys with the melody of my humming. I only got distracted when the sound of a falling key dropped on the floor.
My eyes widened when I saw who it was. His eyes became big like he was also a mouse caught in a trap.
"I-im sorry. I didn't mean to use this. I was just..." I couldn't find the right word to say.
"I-it's okay," Elijah said, stuttering.
