Rucker watched me curiously, his friends had been leaving for several minutes. He made up his mind to move and approached me in silence, irises almost watery, canines protruding from his upper lip. Instinctively, I stepped back, my breathing stalled and my pulse quickened. He was aware that he was frightening me, he froze. His teeth retracted and his eyes took on a human appearance. “How did you get here?”  With everything I had just seen, I had completely forgotten Julia who must still be waiting in the car. How long had I been here, exactly? I had no idea, but it seemed like forever. “Scarlett?”   “The body of Minah, it went up in smoke...”   I was shivering. “Scarlett, are you okay?”  I nodded half-heartedly. He positioned himself in front of me and took me by the shoulders.
