Lily’s POV
Few Weeks later, Dennis began his work at Phoenix, everything was looking fine and everything began to work well for him. He spent time with his friends because he had no other friends, mostly on his off days. He would stay with his friends and they will play game all night. Ken works at a bank while Nate is self employed, He owns a mini restaurant. They would all go to club together and come back home whenever they want.
Few days later, Dennis was at work. Then Tamara walked in with her dad to get some new clothes. Dennis sighted them from the door and he quickly ran to the restroom. Trust me he spent hours there just because of them. Later in the evening, He came out after they had already gone.
“Dennis, where have you been? Been looking for you.” Lily, his coworker said.
“Sorry Lily, I’ve Been having a bad day. Thanks for filling me in.”Dennis replied.
“You're lucky” Lily said.
“Why?”
“Because I could fill in for you”
“You're very funny.” Dennis stated.
“I know.”
“Who came while I was gone by the way?”.
“One of our best customers, Mr. Wilson”.
“Mr Wilson ?”
“Yes. He comes here every Friday to get clothes
for his daughter and his wife.”
“Are you serious?”
“No… I mean…. Yes. Does it look like I'm joking? Hiis daughter is cute, by the way, I could ship you too.”
“Oh, no. I don't want that. Don't be like that.”
“You don't like her? I mean, she's hot.”
“I haven’t met her though” he lied.
“You might as well want to marry her when you see her”
“What?”
“You're going to love her, seriously”
“You're a crazy person. Like a really, really crazy person”.
“Well, I'm sorry for being nice.”
“I'm going back to my post, bye.”
“Come on. Think about it.” Lily said.
“Bye”. Dennis waved and left
Later that evening, Dennis has a visitor. His late mom's senior sister decided to visit. She came with her belongings because she was going to stay for a while
“Welcome, Auntie Diane”. Dennis greeted and grabbed her loads.
“Thanks, Dennis. How's everything been?”. She asked.
“Fine, just some stress.”
“Oh, boy. Sorry about that. what if you stay with your cousin, Amelia for some time? You know, she's working at St. Lucas now.”
“No aunt, I'm a man. I'm going to be fine.”
“Look, I want you to see me as your mother, okay? I know must have been hard for you, I searched for you everywhere. No one told me you've packed, only Ken. I'm really sorry. For leaving you behind, and I promise. I'll be there for you from now.” She said.
“I'm sorry too aunty, I'm sorry for not telling you. I didn't want to bother anyone.”
I know, But you were just 16.”
“I'm sorry. I'm getting better now.
“It's okay. But I want to ask something.”
“What's that?”
“What really happened to my mom.”
“Your mom?”.
“Yes, my mom.”
“She just had breast cancer and by the time they could detect, it was already late.” She lied.
“breast cancer?”.
“Yes.”
“But she never told me anything about breast cancer. She was looking so young and healthy.”
“We are mothers. Maybe she didn't want to stress.”
“I miss them so much. Life has not easy without my parents.”
“I know, honey. I'm here now.”
“ I miss them so very much.”
“It's okay, It's okay. I shouldn't have left you either.” She said as she hugged him while crying.
Dennis couldn't sleep, he was so frustrated
and confused. “Is life really worth it?. I mean, my mom and my dad are no more, Just me. I feel so empty. I just look happy on the outside. And broken on the inside.” He said as he carried his mom's picture. “Please mom, stay with me all my life and Dad, Don't leave me either. I can't do this alone.” Then he said to himself and kept the picture back on the table. He couldn’t sleep.
Meanwhile, his aunt was by his door listening to what he was saying the whole time with so much tears. “How do I tell this boy what really happened to his mom? I don't want it to be too late.” She left and went straight to her room.
The next morning. Aunt Diane Made breakfast. Dennis ate and left for work when he was passing by, he met ken.
“hey ken”
“ hi dennis what's up? off to work?”
“ yeah”.
“ okay have a nice day”. Ken waved.
He got to work 10 minutes before his time and cleaned up and arranged the clothes because he’s the only one on duty so while he was cleaning, The manager, Mrs Katerine walked in.
“Mr. Dennis Wayne”. Mrs kate said.
“Yes ma'am, good morning”.
“Good morning, i noticed you came a bit early today.”
“Yes ma'am, just wanted to try something new”
“keep it up”.
“Thank you.”
“Yeah, Do you know Mr. Wilson Derrick?”. she asked.
“Mr. Wilson”.
“Yes, owner of tally's company”
“No ma'am”
“I asked Lily because I heard you two conversation yesterday”
“ Oh that.”
“yeah”
“she just said they were a very good customer of ours”.
“Yes they are, look we want you to help us”
“Sure ma’am, anything”
“We want to get close to him, the company needs something from him and i want you to help me with that task”
“What? I don’t understand”. Dennis uttered
“See me in my office tomorrow” she said
