Start of Something New

1300 Words
Another day means starting a new thing, but just like any other day, this day seems to always be like that to all the people in the building. People greet others with a cup of coffee in their hands, some are sitting in the lounge or waiting in the waiting area and some are speed walking, their shoes echoing means that they are rushing afraid of getting late for the time allotted for them to check-in. Meanwhile, Aryn arrived earlier than her given schedule, which made her relax a little. She is now nervous because she has a job now. Everything will change, she knows and this is what she expected too, but she will be ready for what will happen. “Floor 23.” She whispered through the plain silver walls all around her. Not a sound from the air or anything could be heard, not until a ‘ching~’ from somewhere indicated that she had reached the 23rd floor in bliss. It is odd from her point of view, as she can't make a noise, she actually feels spooky if not haunted by the things in her environment, and oddly starts to act from the movies and stories she encountered. Another fact regarding horror movies, specifically, Aryn can’t handle too much gore and spookiness. She almost fainted due to her watching a horror genre for her paper. “U-uh..H-Hello?” with a dry throat and brave heart she uttered a word, finally. A few seconds passed by without any shadows of people coming out of the stalls and the room, just what she was praying and assuming. Aryn is so busy finding people in front of her that she doesn't hear echoing sounds from red heels. Every step is intimidating and full of class, but it turns out Aryn is out of reach to be afraid or to be intimidated. She is much more curious and busy finding if there are ghosts in the building or her soon-to-be floor. “Ms. Ashton?” a soft voice echoed throughout the whole lobby that made Aryn finally look at her back. She was faced by a lady in a red bodycon dress with red lips and red hair with gold accessories and, of course, her glass-like red heels. I remember what I was wearing as I walked behind the woman. “It is pretty simple but it is neat. That would be alright, right?” “Welcome to the Levitate Company and I am the head writer, Ericka De Luca.” She introduced herself more gracefully than I did a while ago. We are now sitting across from each other and I just keep looking at the unfamiliar places I am in. I am still grasping the new things I am seeing right now and I will keep them in my memory as what I am when I get there.. up within the stars. "Here are the things you need to do and to be familiar with and I am genuinely hoping that you can be familiar with the workspace you're in." I grab the piece of paper in front of me and look at it. "It is pretty early for, the others, so you may not see them here but you have options on what to do first." With that, I found myself, luckily, in front of this big glass door. As I step foot in, I am awed by how the room looks. It is clean, neat, and organized. Each table has its own pretty name and its title proudly. I took a step and just looked at the tables, as I didn't dare to touch them. I mean, I really wouldn't want to, even if it is permitted. I just want to say that I am here. This is the start of a new thing. An hour passed by without a thought and I could hear people laughing and chit-chatting while I organized things at my own table. I am currently stationed in the magnificent room I went into earlier. It's pretty neat here and in typical office areas like what I can see in those movies and series I am binge-watching. "Oh! Hello, again Ms. De Luca! Do you need something?" I suddenly stopped what I was doing but she just smiled at me. "Oh nothing, but I want to properly introduce you to your team and team leaders—as well as the seniority of the department," she explained. I look at the people behind her and I can't help but to feel nervous. They all went to their respective places and I went beside Ms. De Luca. "Hello everyone! Good morning! I am hoping that you guys sleep and wake up very well. I dropped by to formally introduce you to our new intern, a very ambitious and exciting new member of our department, Ms. January Ashton." She kept her smile as she introduced me to the people in front of me. I kept myself well as I don't want any bad impression going on here. That's the least I want to have. It is not long to hear a clap and yells from the people inside saying "Welcome aboard, Ms. Ashton!", "Please be comfortable with us, Ms. Ashton.", "Welcome to the Screenwriting department!" and more. It pleased me, so I gave them a warm smile and thanked them for the warm welcome. After that, Ms. De Luca excused herself and I was left on my own to deal with their exciting and curious questions on board. "Here are Lisa, Richie, and Iris. We'll be guiding you from now on, so don't hesitate to ask us questions or want help." Tracy said while the three nodded their heads. Maybe it is not too bad to take risks and meet other people. "I will keep that in mind. Thank you!" I replied. They nodded their heads and went back to their business. Tracy smiled and we both went to my table. Ms. Tracy will be my guide through my internship. ---- I went home pretty tired although the intern does not have so many responsibilities yet, but maybe it is because I am adjusting to the environment. I am just thankful that I am with good people. I also got to talk with a few senior screenwriters present today. Some are on the sites for their projects. It can't be helped as they are all busy. "That's so nice, Aryn! I am proud of you!" Dem said. "Thank you so much! I am rooting for you!" I said. I heard a sigh and quickly looked down. "What's with the sighing?" "Well… I am going far. I am going south because of that damn work. I don't know why they chose to give me their Marseille branch." she pouted as she looked at me from below. "It is fine. It will be fine, we can call and text or even meet up. It is not far away—that was on your head, silly." It will be hard for her, all her life she is with someone, it may be me, her parents, or her other friends. But this time it was different. I am lucky enough to live alone this time, but I want to experience it soon. "Well, at least you have a chance to experience being independent first, and if you don't know, I envy you for that. Should we switch?" I joked and heard her giggle. "Then it is my honor to be the first one of us to be independent. I will surely take photos of how great it is to live alone, you dork!" We laughed those tensions and worries away as midnight fell deep. Maybe it is not just me to have a start at this so-called new thing.
