2-KILL ME

Her head throbbed. It didn’t stop there. It radiated slowly, spreading to her limbs leaving her whole body aching. She opened her eyes lightly at the sound of distant voices. ‘Where am I?’, she looked around , trying to make sense of the shapes that couldn’t form. The sound of men conversing could still be heard, now louder than before. Panic surged. Her chest tightened, her body became stiff. She tried raising her hand, she could not, it felt like dead weight sending jolts of pain through her whole body. She sighed at the uselessness of her body. A tear escaped her eyes, as frustration became peak, rolling down her cheeks; “I don’t want to be here”, she whispered, then louder , more desperate, her voice increased, “I want to go home!”, she cried out. Her scream had got the attention of the men in the room. She could hear the footsteps that hurried towards her. In less than a second , she found an elderly grey haired man hovering over her, “She’s awake”, he held her palm and compared it to his. “She’d need more blood, but send the word to him that she’s awake”, he told the other two who were dressed as guards. ‘Who was this him they spoke of ? And why did he need to know this?’, she wondered silently. “Let me go”, she cried, struggling to get up but the chains holding her by the ankle failed her. “Hush child, lest you die.”, the elderly man spoke to her. He moved over to the cabinet, pulled out some ingredients. She watched him as he mixed herbs with practiced hands. Was he the one that saved her? She last recalled being locked up in what looked more like a dungeon than a prison. “Here, take this” , he handed her a metallic cup. The distinctive smell of honey hit her nose first, a hint of garlic could be smelt underneath. “I don’t want this”, she protested, pushing the cup away from her face. A bit of the contents splashed on the floor. He exhaled. “You need this.”, he placed it by her bed side. “I’d tell you a secret. Don’t misbehave, him saving you means something” Before she could ask of the man he spoke of, the air changed. A tall, broad shouldered man walked in. His presence was dark and sinister, and that scent she swore she had smelt before. The old man stiffened and bowed. “Greetings Alpha Theron” She gasped at the mention of his name. She recognized it. He was the alpha of alphas. She had heard so many vile things about him. Blood-moon pack? That could only mean she was in a blood moon pack. The thought alone sent cold shivers down her spine. She was never going to survive here. He was nicknamed Theron the Terror for a reason. He killed their women, she was no exception. She tried to appear brave though the tears in her eyes failed her. “Theophilius”, He walked closer to them, “how is she?” He studied her from head to toe, she looked away quickly , when they made eye contact. His gaze on her made a stomach twist. “Better”, he held her palm and showed it to him, “however she lost a lot of blood, she would need more.” “Mhm”, he looked around, “ transfusion or any other alternative” “hematinics would just be fine” “Good.I’d like to speak with her…alone” “Okay my lord”, Theophilius bowed and exited alongside the guards he came with. He prayed in his heart that he would have mercy on the poor girl. She looked too fragile, too innocent, reminding him so much of his late daughter. Anna. He never got the chance to save her, he was happy he got to save this one. “Who are you?”, he asked when no one else was in the room. He was looking directly into her eyes and it made her uncomfortable.“Who sent you?”, his eyes grew darker at the question. She did not feel safe. “No one…I lost my way”, she said softly. Another tear rolled down her cheek, “you have to believe me. I’m Iria, my parents would be looking for me. I am their only pup.”, her tears became louder. She wondered what great distress her parents would be in right now, especially her mother. If only she had listened, stayed away from running especially at the boundaries of the pack. He was confused. There came this strange urge to comfort her, he didn’t even know how to, he resisted. This was not him, and he hated who he was becoming around her. “Enough!”, he commanded. He cleared his throat, looking away. He was too drawn to those eyes. “Admit you were sent.” It was easier that way, for him. In that moment finding unfathomable strength, she used her fingers to wipe her tears, “just kill me then.”, it was first a murmur, then she said it more surely, “kill me Alpha Theron” His eyes widened at her request. “ You would rather die?” ‘What kind of girl is this?’, he thought. The other women alpha Brandon sent admitted on first torture. She has lasted three days still claiming her innocence, now she was saved, she wanted death? He couldn’t understand. “You're going to kill me either way, Theron the terror”, she sighed. He chuckled at the name. He had heard of it, he never knew it was actually a thing. “ Theron the terror”, the obnoxious smirk was plastered on his face again, “has a ring to it , doesn’t it ?” She scoffed. “Kill me” He couldn’t read her face. Was it defeat or defiance? “you’re not going to die.. yet.Not on your terms either. Let’s see if your alpha cares about you” She rolled her eyes. Alpha Brandon caring about women? Yeah, right. “That won’t work. You know that, you’re smart enough to know that. You’re both similar in that aspect, not a care for women”, she didn’t stutter, she wondered where this bravery was coming from. “I see you have a smart mouth?”, she was testing him. He was not going to fall for it. Anger seethed through him at the comparison, he restrained himself. He was nothing like Brandon. “You want me to kill you,Iria. I’m not granting you that favour yet. Don’t push me”, she noticed the fist he was making, the veins on his neck starting to be more prominent. It was working. “What do you need a girl from your opposing pack for anyways. People would talk…”, she made sure she maintained eye contact, “ they would question the authority of their alpha. A rumour would start, you don’t want to go through all that stress because of-” “Theophilius!”, he growled. Loud enough it rippled through the room, his eyes appeared bloodshot. It worked. He stepped away from her. She was in shock, she expected his mighty hands to be wrapped around her neck, watching her gasp for air. Instead, she watched as the elderly man ran towards him. “My lord”, he looked at her then at Theron. “she seems to be fine. Very fine, do a thorough examination now” Theophilius walked closer to her. His gaze meeting hers, “She’s leaving with me” “What?!”, her face drained of colour.“You heard me, Iria. You’re mine now”
