5 THE TRIAL The four suspects, Damina Melisende Jovien, Sir Galleato, Venerati Magni Lazare, and the Viscount of Cajoulac himself, stood before Estevar, who sat placidly on what had turned out to be a surprisingly comfortable chair. Behind them, the two dozen chanting priests – well, minus Coral, of course – watched the proceedings with confusion.
