Chapter one

1050 Words
Ciara’s pov. “Oww.” Vivian screamed, I rushed over to see what caused her so much pain that she had to scream loudly. She pricked her finger on a needle. It was her wedding day and the worst day of her life. She did not want to get married to Alpha Dante. But my uncle, Alpha Ramon of the Red Moon pack owed Alpha Dante a debt that he cannot pay. In return, his daughter was to pay the price by being mated to the most ruthless and evil Alpha in all the four lands. A hard slap across my skinny face brought me to my senses. “What do you think you are doing?” Vivian screamed at me. I bent my head low, scared to look her in the eyes. “I was trying to clean your wound mistress.” Even though we were cousins, I was a slave to Vivian since her uncle, Alpha Ramon killed my parents and became alpha of the dark claw pack. Vivian stood up angrily, pushing me on the ground, I was just skin and bones. “How many times has my father told you to always use your powers on me.” “It was just a needle prick, I didn't think healing you with my powers was necessary.” The words were barely out of my mouth before another slap landed across my cheek, it stung. The door opened, I gathered my ragged clothes and bent my head to honor Alpha Ramon. Vivian ran to his side. “Daddy.” She whined. “I don't want to get married to Alpha Dante.” I rolled my eyes, thankfully my head was still bent so they did not see me. Ramon did not bother sparing me a glance, his attention was just on his daughter. “I have news for you, fortunately Dante won't be making it to the ceremony. He is sending his Beta, since he has never met you before, we can send Ciara instead as his mate.” I whipped my head up on hearing my name. “What?” My cracked voice managed to echo. Ramon gave me a deadly stare. “We've had enough use of you and your powers. It's time you leave the dark claw pack.” “Yes my Lord.” I knew better than to go into an argument with him. “One more thing.” Ramon said as he took steps closer to me. I could see his shoes right before me. My whole body quaked at his presence. He grabbed me by the shoulders, digging his sharp claws in that I bled through my ragged cloth. “Don't you ever tell him that you are not my daughter, understand!?” I winced in pain, and nodded in understanding. From the corner of my eyes, I could see Vivian giggling evilly. Ramon threw me on the ground mercilessly and I scampered out, making my way to the dungeon where my room was. I rummaged through my bag of withered clothes for a change. They were all worn out and looked like cobwebs. Luckily I found an ointment, so I rubbed it on the deep wound Ramon had inflicted on me. I haven't wolfed yet, so I could not heal like most wolves in the pack. The only thing I had was my healing ability and Ramon forbade that I ever use it on myself. The one time I used it was also the last. Vivian pushed me into a bush full of thorns, I was bleeding badly and tried to heal myself. Ramon ordered that I be flogged in the open with a silver chain, my back sizzled like roasted pork on the fries with each lash. It took four months before I could recover fully. The cranky gate to the dungeon made a creak sound. It was Monica, the head of the slaves. She was the only nice person to me in the blood moon pack. If you can call throwing scraps of food at me being nice. She raised a plain gown in beige color. “Alpha Ramon wants you to wear this for the arrival of the guests of Red Moon pack.” She dropped the gown on the rat ridden bed. “You are finally leaving dark claw pack. Make the most out of it.” I didn't know if that was an advice or a farewell from her. The gown screamed sadness and depression as I put it on. There was a little veil attached to it. Of course, they wouldn't want them to see my face to avoid unnecessary questions. I went upstairs to the reception room. The group from Red Moon were already here. “Ahhh, there she is, my daughter Ciara.” Ramon announced as he noticed me. “Come and meet your new family.” His hand waved me over. I walked timidly, to where he stood, he grabbed me by my injured shoulder tightly. “This is Alphonso, Dante's Beta. He is here to take you to your new home.” Alphonso seemed nice enough as he smiled at me, but I don't need him to be nice. Niceness always came with a price. I was afraid to speak, so I only nodded in response. I watched as they signed some papers, probably the wedding papers. Ramon raised his glass to make a toast. “Here's to the union of our packs.” I sat there like a zombie, as my future was being sealed by my uncle, to a man I have never met before. I couldn't begin to imagine which would be more like hell. Dark claw pack was already hell enough. I have been signed off to be with the devil. The reception ended, it was time to leave. Ramon followed me to the car, which Alphonso drove. I could feel his cold words as he bent to my ears. “If you ever disclose your true identity, I will hunt you down and kill you myself.” My body shivered. That was a threat I took seriously, Ramon was not someone to be messed with. Alphonso wound down the windows. “Say your goodbye, this is the last time you'll ever see dark claw pack.”
