K-19 POV
.............
"Hey, Babe... Wake up!"
I wake up to hear a man's voice around me
"Maybe you should just splash the water on her, 10 out of 10 would wake up."
"True, why in the f**k's name are you still hesitating brah? Come on, give me the bucket!" No sorry, three voices. All grown-up arse-like boys.
"f**k you, lurchers! Only thinking with your fifth limbs. If anyone pours out that water, am going to gut him." Finally, a girl's voice.
"Shut it Salt! Maybe if you had almost next to nothing on you like this sweetheart here, we'll think about bathing you with this liquid! Ha ha aha!"
'A sweetheart that is almost naked, is that me?' What in the gods' name happen while I was 'asleep'
I had no intention of faking my dozed figure to somehow glean information from their ramblings.
Seeing me suddenly stand up, the whole room quieted for some seconds, before the first voice broke the recess "f**k! That scared the s**t out of me! For a moment there, I thought she had turned to a zombie!"
"f**k off, the only zombie around this area is the old, granddad figure standing before me... PS, that's you."
My eyes caught up with everyone in this 'room'
Standing right beside me was a savvy male with deep brown hair trimmed in a not so manly fashion to perk a little high as if it was permed, he looked like a college student... So about 24 or thereabout.
Beside him, series of characters came to denote his profile ...
[Agent K-09, Fore Runner, 5 Stars above his belt. Code: Scouter. status: dangerous]
Behind K-09, two dudes laid sprawled on the only lounge there was in this room, and a girl feeding a huge dog 'or was that a wolf?'
The one with a sarcastic frown on his face, a youth of about 18 years with Black slick hair on a leather jacket open down collar. His eyes had a shade of yellow albeit at times with black.
[K-70: Fore Runner, 4 Stars to his belt. Antagonistic and Assertive. Code: Simulator Status: Dangerous].
The next had bangs covering his left eye. He had a sort of introverted look but his eyes churned with confidence. Age around 17, with a pair of lenses.
[K-14: Intelligence, 3 Stars to his belt.
Code: Informant. Tech genius, data planner... Status: In Recovery.
[K-25: 3 Stars to her belt. An enhanced metaphysical, classic use of arms in defense or offense. Code: Melee. Status: Safe]
Although these words appeared abrupt, I could somehow understand them completely. Just like me, they passed through the first stage... And we were going to pass through even deadlier ones.
"Hey, Hello o? are you alright?" Agent K-09 said with a doting smile. 'He's older than all of us' I thought in that split second.
"Am great. Where are we—"
"You're great? Because believe me, am not! We wasted a whole day waiting for you, and what have we got? Only a self-assertive thumbs up."
"Number 70, you've had your piece. Girl- K-19, can you stand?" Number 09 asked with a frown.
"I think so—" And again, I was rudely interrupted by K-70
"Aie! K-09, just because you and K-19 had the same stars doesn't make you my superior... This was rigged. You can't even shoot anything beyond 30 meters and she couldn't even save her Aide. Come on, you all should think so too right?"
"Sure, sure... But since am the senior here—"
"You mean Old, that while we're all teens you look over 25? Simply say it out loud, there isn't a need to cut corners."
"I took it upon myself to make this team stay in one piece." K-09 continued without a blink. "So forgive me for trying, alright?"
"Wait. Just let me confirm something first, was that the actual reason you stayed behind or was it to have an individual 'higher' than us to boost our chances" This was from the geek K-14. It was possible that him being with the lowest star tally had spooked a sore spot somewhere. Tension climbed to unknown heights as it looked like they would face off against each other.
"Stop! Everyone stop whatever you plan to do right this instant, and gloss over what happened, and what you think we should do." I spoke out with the courage I never knew I could muster.
"Says the Leading Star" K-70 commented but made no effort to restart the argumentative trialogue.
"Great! So, anyone cares to explain?".
"..... "
"After you blanked out, A command came in from HQ. Everyone had to form a group of Ten members to tackle their respective zones. The Stingers would be asleep for most of the days, only showing up at night, so the quicker we destroy their nest, the better for everyone." K-09 supplied.
"Is that it?"
Seeing his confused state, It was either he didn't know more than this, or he just could not understand the message well.
Have to give it to K-14, seeing K-09's stumped look, he sighed at K-09's bemoaning look and took over
"So, Each Zone has about 3 or 2 nests, And in them, a gross figure could be about 20 stingers. Including, but not limited to Black biters, Shadow Stingers, Colonial Wasps, and others... Though they mostly comply with the rule
'Normal Stingers take about 70%, then there's Black voters and Shadow Stingers dividing the remaining 30%, rarely can one see the Colonial Wasp.' "
"I understand. So do we rest or move on now?" I ask,
"Of course we have to move! Those things are just like Vipers. It'll be best if we take them down in their sleep-like state and have no casualties than to take the risk all for nothing." K-09 said seriously.
"Okay, so we rest then—"
"Hold it there lady. Are you trying to fish in troubled waters? I for one cannot accept YOU as a leader... Or him" K-70 announced, pointing at K-09 angrily. If there should be a saying "hate at first sight" then it definitely meets the case in front of me.
"So what do you want?"
"So what do you want?"
K-09 and I said at the same time. Both of us with a frown passed on our faces.
"Simple, everyone has his or her specialty, right? You should all be the boss in that..." K-14 supplied
"I see...!" All of us having light bulbs on our faces.
Looking at it again, everyone had his profession
K-09 was Scouting
K-14 was intelligence
K-70 prevailed in creating simulations of our assaults.
K-24 prevailed in Melee combat and escape route formations.
And I was best at providing real on-site commands to turn or perfect the situations.
"Am good with it" I reply without feelings.
"Am not!" K-09 backed down on this one, "Why do we get to listen to all your commands, what if your simulations go wrong? Every thought of that?"
"K-09, enough. If we're going to be a team, then we'll have to trust one another."
"I get it... Fine. K-24, What about you," K-24 who had made no comment till now promptly raised her hand to confirm "Just so you know... I don't like you K-70." Before going back to feed the dog.
"The feeling is mutual"
"...."
"One problem though, we are 5 right now... Where's the other 5?"
