First meeting - Chapter 1
Seren - Seren made her way through the forest, barefoot and her clothes torn the shreds. She stumbling as she walked, tripping over the fallen branches in her path. Flash backs of her home, torn down, burnt and her coven.. gone. She saw their faces as she walked, holding onto the trees as she past them. Tears streaming down her face. The screams of her family, though they weren’t her blood family, she saw them the same. They had raised her, kept her safe, taught her everything that she knew. And now they were gone. Seren continued to walk, stopping for breath occasionally, the smoke she had inhaled rested in her lungs, making it hard to breathe. She was determined to get revenge, to find help in the one she knew could finish this. ??? - “Sir, you have a visitor” Helga greeted Vlad, standing in the doorway of his study. Helga was a servant for Vlad in his home, she had been for generations. Unlike any other help they had, she was certainly different. Helga stood, holding the door open. Her skeleton arm clicking as she leaned against it. “Who is it?” Vlad asked, curiously. Frowning as he wasn’t expecting any visitors. “You may want to come and see for yourself, sir” Helga sighed, looking to the floor. Vlad rose from his seat, he couldn’t read Helga as she had no way of showing expression. She was quite literally, bones. He walked for the door, sensing a presence in his home, he could feel the sadness radiating before he had even approached. As he walked down the stairs to the living room, he saw a woman, warming herself against the large fireplace. Her clothing was torn and muddy. What looked like scorch marks and ash dirtied her shirt. Her dark hair a mess of leaves and twigs. Vlad couldn’t help but frown more, baffled by this woman who had entered his home. “Ahem” he cleared his throat, standing behind the sofa that faced her. She jumped out of her skin, shrieking and flinching. Vlad held out his hand, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to frighten you”, he slowly turned to Helga with a confused expression. “Tea!” Helga announced, shuffling off to the kitchen. Vlad ushered the woman to sit with him, in order to figure out her company. He inspected her more as she settled herself, pale like she had seen a ghost. “What brings you to my home?” Vlad asked with demand, his arms covering the back of the sofa as he crossed his leg over the other. “Sir.. I wouldn’t have come here if it weren’t desperate” the woman began as Vlad gave his attention to her. “What is your name?” He asked, continuing to inspect her clothing. He could smell the charred fabric, the smell of earth and pines. Not only those, but a comforting smell of honey and vanilla. “Seren” she replied sheepishly, twirling her thumbs nervously around one another. “Sir, I didn’t know what else to do” she continued, looking up towards Vlad. Seren - Seren couldn’t help but stare at him, his eyes bright green with a piercing gaze. He emitted a powerful energy, but was dark and brooding in the same breath. He smelled of cologne and sandalwood. He held his tattooed hands together, inspecting Aleera all over. She stared nervously, “sir, I didn’t know what else to do” she began to well up, trying to stay strong in front of him. This man was notorious and known in every occult. He was a Soul Eater, a Harbinger of death and a collector of the lives who crossed his path. “I don’t think I can help you” he muttered, bluntly. He met her eyes once more, making her shudder. “But my family.. sir the vampires killed them!” She cried out, sitting at the edge of the seat. He closed his eyes and took a deep sigh, eventually sitting up straight and rubbing the back of his neck. “I’m sorry for your loss, but what is it exactly you’d like me to do? I cannot bring back the dead” he looked unamused and almost angry. She continued to stare in disbelief, her mouth hung open as she couldn’t find the words to put together. “Helga told me you believe it was vampires” he continued, gesturing towards the skeleton maid, who was pushing a trolley with tea towards them. “Y-yes, it was!” She continued, hoping this would change his mind. “So you have no actual evidence?” He scoffed before taking a sip of his hot tea. “My home was burnt down.. please, sir I’m not lying” Seren pleaded, shaking her head as she refused the tea from the maid. “I have had many of your kind, trying to lure me into these little traps” he scoffed again, rolling his eyes and shaking his head. “I must say you put a lot of effort into this costume” he pointed, gesturing up and down. “This isn’t a trap! This is real!” She could feel her blood boiling, she stood from the sofa, standing over where he was sat. “My family are dead! And you think I’m trying to trap you?!” He looked up at her, raising an eyebrow as he took another sip of his drink. His eyes flickered with different colours, drawing her attention more. “Helga, please show Miss Nava out” Realising she had never told him her full name, she stormed towards the door where Helga stood.
