My lips parted. “Who are you?”
She tilted her head. “You already know.”
True to her words, somewhere deep in me… I did.
The words came out slowly. “You’re the child… the one from the vision. The child of dusk and dawn.”
She nodded once.
I swallowed. “What does that mean?”
She stepped closer. “I was born of two fading lights. One that dies each morning. One that disappears each night.”
I frowned. “Sun and moon?”
She gave a small shrug. “Something like that.”
Her voice was gentle, but not soft. It held weight and depth, as if she was far older than she looked.
“You don’t belong to this world,” I whispered.
“Neither do you.”
That made me take a step back.
Her eyes didn’t follow me. Instead, she reached out and pressed a hand to the air, where a strange rune appeared, glowing gold
