"Hey friend~ Why are you so late today?"
"I ran into a bit of a problem," I told Kiwi, my close friend who greeted me after I sneaked into the classroom through the back door. I was very late, almost 2 hours late -_-! Luckily, the teacher checks attendance at the end of the class, otherwise, I'd definitely be marked absent.
"What happened?"
"I almost burned the kitchen down," I whispered back. Upon hearing my answer, Kiwi's eyes widened in shock.
"Again?"
"Yeah," I nodded. But do I feel guilty now? Not really. Why should I feel guilty when it was Mr. Inferno who caused the fire in the kitchen, not this Preem directly.
"Hey, Preem."
"Yeah?"
"Is that Mr. Inferno of yours really handsome? I've wanted to see his face for a long time." Kiwi knows I live with Mr. Inferno. She often hears me rant—oops, I mean talk—about my superior, but I've never shown her a picture. I just mentioned once that he's handsome, but mostly I just sit and complain, oops! I mean, talk about him.
"He's very handsome...." But his personality is just as terrible. I replied
"Can I see a picture?"
"I don't have one." We've never taken a picture together, so how could I have one?
"Then can you give me his f*******: or i********:, so I can check him out?"
"He doesn't use them." Probably not. I don't really know. We live together, but we're on totally different floors. We barely even talk each day without wanting to bite each other's heads off, so why follow each other online...
"Oh~ Then how can I see his face? You really don't have a picture of him?"
"Really don't have one."
"What the heck, Preem? You live with someone you say is very handsome, but you don't have a picture of him to show?"
"Yeah, we're just cohabitants, not relatives. So why would I take a pictures with him?"
"..." Kiwi stared at me with a look that seemed to call me a liar. But I can't let my friend think I'm lying, it would ruin my credibility.
"I'm not lying. He's really handsome, but I just don't have a picture of him."
"I can't believe it."
"Believe it. When would I have time to take a picture with him, Kiwi? Just sharing the same air makes us want to bite each other's heads off every day."
"Sigh~ Just sneak a picture for me. okay? I really want to see him."
"No, no, no way. I will never allow my phone to have a picture of Mr. Inferno because my phone would become a bad luck charm for my life."
"That's harsh. But if you were to describe how handsome Mr. Plerng is for me, without bias, how handsome is he? Give me a description of his looks." Kiwi really seems eager to see him. But even if my friend doesn't emphasize the 'without bias' part, I wouldn't lie because I've always admitted that Mr. Plerng is extremely handsome—like unbelievably handsome.
"Well, he's so handsome, like he's handsome in this life and the next, you know what I mean?"
"Wow~ The more you talk, the more curious I get. Can I come over to the condo?"
"Haha, sure! But spruce yourself up a bit first, my friend. Then try to catch Mr. Plerng's eye at some fancy club. If you catch his eye, he'll take you willingly. But after that, you'll have to find your own way back. And most importantly, don't think about leaving your clothes behind to claim ownership, because it would be me who has to dispose of them."
Smack!
"You're such an i***t, Preem!"
"Haha, Alright, let's get back to studying." I laughed almost loudly and then turned my attention to the teacher. But what I said earlier wasn't a joke. Kiwi is beautiful, with a model-like, chic look. If she dressed a bit more stylishly and expensively, she'd be exactly Mr. Plerng's type.
-Several days later-
"Mr. Plerng."
"Hmm, what's up?" He glanced up from staring at a picture of a woman in a bikini on his tablet.
"I'd like to go out with my friends this Friday."
"Where to? Out of town?"
"No, Khao San Road." As soon as I answered, Mr. Plerng looked up from the woman's chest to look at me.
"You're going to a bar?"
"Uh-huh," I nodded.
"How old are you now?"
"I'm nineteen, but I'll be exactly twenty this Friday!" I replied confidently, knowing that in three days, I'd be able to get past the bouncers at any bar across the kingdom. Hehe.
"So you're going to celebrate your birthday?"
"Exactly. My friends want to take me out to celebrate. Please let me go, Mr. Plerng. I've never gone out with friends before."
"You'll end up going wild, especially since you're from the countryside."
"Oh, come on, Mr. Plerng. I've been living in Bangkok for years. What's the big deal about going to a club with friends for the first time in my life? I'm turning twenty."
"Turning twenty and heading straight to a club, that's over the top," he said, then continued scrolling through i********:. It was really irritating to see.
"That girl, Alicia, is 17 and has photos of herself checking in at bars and wearing bikinis at pool parties all the time, just so you know," I leaned over to look at his screen and chimed in, making Mr. Inferno glare at me.
"He glared at me. "Mind your own business." Stay out of it."
"Tsk! I'm not being nosy, just pointing out that the girl you're checking out is nearly three years younger than me, yet she can already go to clubs."
"Hmm," he murmured and continued scrolling through his phone, stopping at a clip of her dressed provocatively, dancing in a club. Mr. Inferno watched it intently, and seeing this made me smile.
"So, you're letting me go, right?" I asked with a sweet smile.
"No."
"What! Why not?"
"Nope, my mom would chew me out. Go away, I'm too lazy to chat."
"Oh~ Mr. Inferno, you're so cruel, breaking a little bird's heart."
"On your birthday, you should wake up, do some good deeds, and remember your parents' kindness. What's the point of hitting a club with friends? Did your friends give birth to you?"
"..." Damn it, Mr. Inferno! I'm lost for words!
"You go often enough yourself. Ever heard of personal rights?"
Snap!
"Arguing?"
...^^
"Just sharing my opinion."
"Get lost, you're annoying."
"..."
"Go."
"...Ugh!" In the end, I had to turn away and head back to my room, no matter how upset I felt inside!
"On your birthday, you should wake up, do some good deeds, and remember your parents' kindness. What's the point of hitting a club with friends? Did your friends give birth to you?"
You're not my parents either, Mr. Inferno, so why are you bossing me around?

(Hey, sweetie?)
"Auntie~"
-Three days later-
"Mr. Inferno"
"What?"
"... Are you really not going to let me go?"
"Where are you going?" he asked immediately, sitting with his feet propped up on the dining table, leaning back while sipping the morning coffee I had handed him. I placed the sandwich on the table, not far from his feet, and looked at him.
"To celebrate my birthday, remember."
"Do you really want to go?"
"Yes, of course." Why would I ask if I didn't want to go?
"Hmm, okay then. Where do you want to celebrate?"
"At Kha... / Well, how about the Wat Nong E-Raeng? I'll take you to make merit and even donate to a coffin charity."
"..." Ugh! Way to crush my dreams, that's so annoying -_-
"What's wrong? Don't like it?"
"Go by yourself, Khun Plerng! Here's your sandwich, don't forget to eat it!" I turned and walked out immediately.
"Why go? It's such a stupid trend that birthdays have to be celebrated at a club with friends." He grumbled behind me, so I turned back.
"I don't want to go to a club, it's just that I've never had a birthday, never blown out candles. This is the first time someone wants to throw a birthday party for me. Do you understand, Khun Plerng? It's not about it being in a club, even if my friends threw it in the graveyard of your ridiculous Wat Nong E-Raeng, I'd still want to go!" I replied and then opened the door to my room immediately and slammed it.
He really, forbidding anything that makes me happy, huh!
So annoying!
I sat down to calm myself, but it only took a moment for my mood to return to normal.
Not allowed to go, huh?
Ugh! Whatever, I just pretended to ask again because, in reality, auntie had already given me permission~ ^o^
