I watched Nigel as he opened the door. From the corner of my eye, I saw Alpha Sia place a hand on the child while the other rested on her hip. There was probably a weapon hidden there. My mate chose the right person to send our child to for protection.
“I beg your pardon, sir. The madam seems to be waking up, and I figured you would want to be there," the physician's voice came through, and I pushed past everyone to get to my bedchambers.
I could hear the others coming toward me, but they were not my priority.
When I got to my bedchambers, I found my mate still in bed, but there was something different about her. To my amazement, she turned her head in my direction and opened her eyes slightly.
