I gulp in fear. He may look handsome and edible in person, but he's a force to be reckoned with. It's rumored that he's more beast than human in the boardroom, but I am yet to see that. He looked squarely at me, and I did everything in my willpower not to quiver. Is it suddenly hot in here, or is it just me? Maybe their air conditioner isn't in top condition. His eyes that, I thought, are green has a speck of golden color in it, which gives his eyes an out of the world glow. I know numerous people will kill just to have the same eye color as his. “Name?” I almost fell off the chair, his question took me surprised. I gulp in fear, my mouth too dry to produce spittle, with body shaking in fear, I take out my file *that's what I see people in movies did when they attend an interview in a company as prestigious as this one*, another reason for that is, it will help me bid my time to avoid angering the lion in his den. “Par..... par..... pardon sir?” I mentally slap myself for stuttering. He narrows his eyes at me, “are you that dumb or are you slow in the ears?” his icy question shot a bolt of fear through me. I would have stood up right there and then walk out the office, *this interview is getting scarier and the scary as hell CEO happens to be the one interviewing me. I rather eat a can of worms than make a fool of myself in front of a distinguished figure* if not for fear I might not make it to the door before my knees buckle. Furthermore, I see his narrow gaze on me, recalling he asked me a question earlier. “None sir”, I didn't elaborate, the tension in the room enough to make me piss my pants, not that I did piss in my pants, no I didn't. Ok, just a little, but don't tell Kamara about it, she won't let me live it down, she will probably taunt me with it for eternity. “Then why didn't you answer my earliest question?” he leaned back on his chair, “what's your name?” and this time I heard his question. “Binna Guil Duncan, sir,” I answer as politely as I can. He burst out in laughter, the sound chilling to the ears, if the devil laughs, I bet this exactly how his laughter will sound like. “That's the most ridiculous name in this planet”, he leans towards me, “Binna”, the way he says my name like a caress made goosebumps erupt on my body, “what're your qualifications?” “I majored in business administration in the university of Vanasu* one of the top universities in our country*, I got a second class upper,” he nodded, but his face gives nothing away, I can't tell whether he was impressed or not. “Why are you applying for a secretary position when you seem to know about the business world? You could have applied to the open slots”, his tune wasn't accusatory or insulting, it was plain neutral as if he were asking about the weather. “That was the only position that was open about twenty minutes ago”, have it been that long since I came on here? Time sure flies. “What are your work experiences?” I point at my file on the table, "it's all in my CV if you will care enough to read”, I made my voice pleasant and sweet as an angel's, no need spooking the sleeping beast. “I want to hear it from the horse's mouth. I would have read from your so-called CV if I wanted, but I don't”, his voice had a hint of anger in it. “ I worked in a library my junior year. I've worked in five cafés and two restaurants. I worked as a secretary in Ebekuodike's chamber and I worked as an assistant engineer during my university days,” I summarize. Did he look expectedly at me," is that all? You haven't worked in a company?” I would rather not disappoint him, but that's all I have done since the accident that took all from me and my siblings. “Am afraid so, sir.” Here is the part he tells me am not qualified for the job He was silent for a long time, I was sure he's thinking of ways to lay me down without hurting my feelings. Sorry, Sir, my feelings will be hurt, no matter how you go about it. If I fail to secure a job before next week, things will be harder than it is for I and my sibling. We have numerous unpaid bills on our table, Dozie is going away to college next month and I need to pay his tuition fees, Kamara and Kamsi's school fees are due next month, coupled with Kamara's health bills. I can't afford to miss this job, since I don't have other jobs lined up for me. “Am I handsome?” he smirks devilishly. Why is he asking such an unethical question? “I don't understand how your looks matters on this complex, am here for a job not for an ego stroking.” I commend myself for not stuttering at his hot gaze. He's handsome, I concur, but that doesn't mean I am going to tell him that. “Would you date me if given the opportunity?” His words made me angrily stand from the chair I am sitting on, a dark look on my face. “Why should I want to date my you? And who gave you the impression I swing that way? You know what, take that your job and shove it up your ass, I wouldn't stoop so low as to work for an egoistical man. Who even gave you the idea everyone irrespective of gender will love to have a bite of you? I am out of here, good luck getting a person to work for someone like you.” I pick up my file and walk towards the door, to hell with this job, I rather I and my siblings get thrown out the street than stay in this perv's office. “Tomorrow by eight, don't be late.” He says. I turn back towards him when I heard him speak, “pardon?" He looks irritated, “you got the job, anyone that can talk back at me without fear is qualified to be my PA”, he turns towards the picture he was looking at earlier, “tomorrow by eight, don't be late. I hate tardiness and dress more appropriately.” “You can go to hell with your job.” I slam the door behind me.
