Charlotte's marriage to billionaire Elijah Garcia was a nightmare—a constant cycle of abuse, neglect, and humiliation by his cruel family. The final blow came when she was coerced into terminating her pregnancy while Elijah was in Italy rekindling an old flame. In a moment of fierce resolve, she threw divorce papers in his face and walked away with nothing but her freedom.

Later, at an opulent high-society gala, a stunning woman in a multi-million-dollar couture gown commanded the room's attention. With a confident smile, she introduced herself as the heiress to the city's wealthiest family and vowed vengeance on those who had hurt her. The crowd was left in shock, and the Garcias became paralyzed with fear.

Raising her glass high, she boldly announced, "I, Charlotte Robinson, am back!"

Chapter 1 Divorcing Him
"Congratulations, you were pregnant!" Charlotte was stunned, staring at her pregnancy test report in the hospital. Joy mixed with discomposure rose in her mind, and would Elijah like this child? Elijah Garcia was Charlotte Robinson's husband of two years and the man she had loved for eight years.  When he was young, Elijah was already the CEO of leading company in New Yorks.  He was outstanding in everything from talent to appearance. But the only problem he did was that he has always been indifferent to the wife arranged by his family.   Charlotte pulled at the fabric of her clothes, reflecting on her stifling marriage. Elijah, though scandal-free, was seldom home. She had married him full of happiness, only to find herself spending most days in solitude. He shouldn't be looking forward to having this child, right? She signed and put away the pregnancy test report. ***** As she walked out of the clinic, a sudden rush of footsteps came from behind. Before she could do anything, strong arms in black grabbed her, muffling her screams."Mmmph..." Instinctively, Charlotte clutched her belly. Who were those people, and where were they taking her? Soon, she was pulled into a clinic room, where a backlight silhouetted a familiar figure—Elijah's "mother," Sofia Garcia. Her face with heavy make-up twisted into a sneer. "So, you actually got pregnant," Sofia remarked coldly. "What are you going to do?" Charlotte asked, terror-stricken. "What do you think? I'm going to terminate your pregnancy, of course!" Sofia replied, her smile icy. "But why?!" Charlotte exclaimed, her eyes widening in disbelief. Sofia sneered. "Why? You really think I'd let you give birth to this bastard and steal my wealth?" Sofia, the wife of Elijah's father, Ethan Garcia, and not Elijah’s biological mother, had always despised Elijah as the child from an affair. Charlotte never fathomed that Sofia's animosity would extend to harming an unborn child. "A bastard's son should never have been born!" Sofia declared, signaling to the men in black. They restrained Charlotte, forcing abortion pills down her throat. The bitterness of the pills sent a shiver down Charlotte's spine. "You won't get away with this! Elijah will make you pay!" Charlotte yelled in agony. Sofia chuckled dismissively. "Why would he, you stupid girl?" She tossed a stack of photos on the floor near Charlotte. "How pathetic are you?" Charlotte looked down and saw a couple under a streetlamp, the woman nestled against the man's strong chest, both radiating happiness. The man, who looked gentle and caring, was unmistakably her husband, Elijah! And the woman was his first love, Amelia Davis! Charlotte felt her heart squeeze painfully! Elijah... was cheating on her? Before she could grasp the full situation, excruciating pain surged through her abdomen. A warm fluid trickled down her legs, her strength ebbed away as a chill crept over her body... A chilling command followed. "Take her to the doctor for a dilation and curettage." Eventually, she blacked out at the edge of her endurance. ***** The miscarriage and the dilation and curettage almost took Charlotte's life. Three days later, Charlotte awoke in the soft evening light, as the sunset cast a tender hue on the stark white walls of her hospital sanctuary. For a brief moment, what had happened that day felt like nothing more than a bad dream. Yet the persistent ache in her abdomen, twisting deep into her bones, cruelly reminded her that it was all real. The baby was gone. The pain was so overwhelming that she could hardly open her eyes, yet tears flowed freely. Suddenly, she felt a warm hand gently wiping away her tears. Charlotte frowned, struggling to open her eyes. "How are you feeling?" The voice was familiar and instantly snapped Charlotte back to reality. She turned her head to see Elijah, dressed all in black, sitting on the edge of her bed. His face was etched with concern, his complexion pale and damp. In a trembling voice, Charlotte clutched his arm. "We lost the baby." Elijah winced, unable to meet her gaze, and murmured, "I know." Charlotte stared at him, stunned. She could hardly believe that those were the first words uttered by her husband, the father of their lost child. He knew? What the hell was that supposed to mean? Gazing at him with sorrowful eyes, she said, "That's all? Elijah, it's a baby... Our baby!" Underneath his suit, Elijah clenched his hands into tight fists, his palms bleeding slightly. He had always feared their child would become a pawn in the ongoing power struggles within the Garcia family. When losing that baby, he felt the weight of his worst fears realized. Elijah wanted revenge, but it was hardly the right time. He sighed deeply with a mix of resignation and resolve in his voice. "I'll handle this matter and explain everything in time. Right now,  you need rest. I've arranged for someone to look after you." His detached tone left Charlotte incredulous. He was too calm to be a father who had just lost his unborn baby! How could he show no anger toward the woman who killed their baby? Heartbroken, Charlotte clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms. She pursed her lips, trying to awaken some semblance of conscience in Elijah. "I thought you just didn't love me, but now I see you're heartless." Elijah looked pale, and his lips trembled slightly as he spoke, "Maybe I can make it up to you? What do you want? Just say it, and I'll give you anything." Charlotte responded passionately, "What do I want? Sofia Garcia killed our baby! I want her to pay the price!" A fleeting pain crossed Elijah's face, swiftly concealed. He slipped a black card from his wallet, tucking it under her pillow. "You need some rest. I've arranged the best doctors for you. And now... I have some matters to attend to. I'll come to see you when I can." His detached demeanor literally shocked her. As Elijah turned to leave, Charlotte awkwardly propped herself up in bed. "Were you with Amelia Davis the night I lost the baby?" Elijah turned back, a flicker of panic in his eyes. Had she misunderstood? Should he clarify the truth? Telled her that he didn't cheat, he just had a reason to find Amelia. Her disappointed gaze stung him, the pain nearly unbearable. He turned away, his voice low. "You look pale. Just sleep." Charlotte was overcome with despair, feeling like a complete farce. His evasive response was the answer. Or rather, the truth was painfully clear. Taking a deep breath, Charlotte reopened her eyes with firm resolve. "I think it's time we ended this marriage."
