Chapter 20

2296 Words
Travis was standing in the doorway of a dingy house in one of the most dangerous parts of London. His heart was beating in time with his steps, and his veins were boiling with determination. He knew there might be deadly danger beyond that door, but the thought of his sister, of her pain and humiliation, gave him strength. Travis took a deep breath, trying to stop his hands from shaking, and knocked firmly on the door. The interior of the house was silent except for the faint creak of floorboards. Travis waited, feeling the tension build with each passing second. Finally, the door swung open and George appeared. His gaze was cold and calculating, and there was the faintest hint of a smile at the corners of his mouth. "Travis Kembel," George drawled with a sneer. — What brings you to my humble domain?" Travis clenched his fists, trying to control the rage inside him.— You know why I'm here. I've come to demand an answer for what you did to Ashley. George raised an eyebrow, as if surprised by the bluntness.— So what are you going to do?" Threaten me? You do realize that I have powerful friends, and I can easily get rid of you. Travis stepped forward, looking George straight in the eye.— I don't care who your friends are. I won't back down until I get justice. You will be held accountable for your actions. There was a heavy silence in the air, broken only by the occasional rustle from the street. Travis could feel the adrenaline pumping through his veins, and George seemed to be enjoying the moment, his eyes glittering with anticipation of the fight. Without another word, Travis lunged at George. The man dodged deftly, and a fierce fight ensued. Blows rained down one after another, the air filled with heavy breathing and thudding sounds of blows. Travis fought with a rage born of pain and anger, while George fought with cold calculation and experience. At one point, Travis managed to knock George down. He loomed over him, fists clenched."Now you'll understand what it means to hurt my family!" George, breathing hard, looked at Travis defiantly.— Do you think that's going to change anything?" I'll always be one step ahead of you. You don't know the half of what I can do. The words only served to ignite Тревисеa new wave of rage in Travis. He grabbed George by the collar and shoved him against the wall.— I'll expose you!" All of London will know about your crimes! George grinned, looking Travis straight in the eye."Try it." But remember that every crime has its own price, and you can pay it with your own life. Suddenly there was a loud noise in the house, and several people — George's accomplices-ran into the room. Travis saw the situation instantly: he was trapped. But there was nowhere to retreat, and he braced himself for another fight. Among George's accomplices, there was one who seemed more determined and dangerous than the others. Travis knew that he would have to fight not only George, but also his henchmen. He fought back with all his might, but the enemy was outnumbered. At the most critical moment, just as Travis was beginning to feel that his strength was running out, the door of the house opened with a bang, and Robert and several reliable people appeared on the threshold, whom he had already warned about his plan. They rushed to Travis ' aid, and soon George's accomplices were neutralized. Robert walked over to Travis and George, breathing hard.— We need to get George to court immediately. His crimes must not go unpunished. Travis nodded, still breathing hard and aching in his muscles. He looked down at George, who was lying on the floor, defeated and humiliated. In that moment, Travis realized that although the victory was bitter, it was still a victory. They tied George up and led him out of the house under the watchful eyes of his accomplices, who were now powerless. A small crowd had already gathered on the street, attracted by the noise and scuffle. Travis lifted his head and looked at the men, feeling a growing determination to see this through. "Today you will witness the unmasking of one of London's most dangerous criminals," he said loudly to the crowd. "George Kembel is charged with a number of serious crimes, and he will answer for his actions before the law. Слова Travis's words drew whispers and whispers from the crowd. People began to discuss what they had heard, and soon the news of George's exposure spread all over the city. Back at the palace, Ashley waited anxiously for news of Travis. She didn't know what was going on, but she felt that her brother's fate was hanging in the balance. Her heart was pounding with fear, but at the same time, she hoped that Travis would pull through and come home victorious. When Travis returned to the palace with the arrested George, Ashley ran out to meet her brother. When she saw him alive and unharmed, she threw her arms around his neck, barely holding back the tears.— You're alive!" You did it! Travis hugged his sister, feeling the weariness and tension slowly leave him. He looked into her eyes and said:"Yes, we did it. But this is just the beginning. We need to see this through and make sure George gets what he deserves. Ashley nodded, holding her brother's hand tightly. She knew there were new challenges ahead of them, but now that they were together, she felt strong enough to overcome any difficulties. News of George's arrest quickly reached the highest circles of society. London was buzzing with details of the revelation and wondering what other secrets would be revealed. Ashley and Travis knew that their lives would never be the same again, but they were ready for a change, because the main thing was that they defended their honor and dignity. But somewhere in the shadows, far from prying eyes, a new plot was already brewing. The enemy wasn't going to give up, and Ashley and Travis would have to face danger more than once. But as long as they were together, they could overcome any challenges. In the palace, life was gradually returning to normal, but the shadow of tragedy still lingered in the corridors. The servants were whispering, Margaret was trying to support Ashley, and Robert was helping Travis with his next move. Every day brought new rumors, new hopes, and new fears. While London discussed the latest news, Ashley and Travis made plans for the future, knowing that their journey was far from over. But there was hope in their hearts, and they were ready to go forward, hand in hand, supporting and protecting each other from all adversity. After George's arrest, the Kembel Palace was filled with an unusual silence. Ashley and Travis tried to live a normal life, but the shadow of their recent past still clouded their days. They knew that defeating George was only a step on the road to true calm, and yet there was a glimmer of hope in their hearts that the worst was over. However, the calmness was deceptive. A few days after the trial, the news came: George escaped from prison. The news hit Ashley and Travis like a bolt of lightning. They felt the ground give out from under their feet, and the world around them began to crumble. Travis gathered all the right people to discuss a plan of action. Robert, Thomas, Annabelle, and the other allies were gathered in the room. Travis paced back and forth, clenching and unclenching his fists. His gaze was steady, but there was concern in the depths of his eyes. "We need to find George," Travis said, looking them all in the eye. — He won't stop until he gets his revenge. We must be prepared for anything. Robert nodded, his face serious.— I've already started gathering information. George has accomplices who can help him escape. We need to find out where he might have gone. Thomas added—" I'll talk to the people in the prison, see if I can find out how he escaped." Maybe there's a traitor out there. Annabelle glanced at Ashley, who was sitting in the corner of the room with her arms wrapped around her knees. Her face was pale and her eyes were filled with fear. "Ashley, are you okay?" Annabelle asked softly. Ashley looked up, tears glistening in her eyes.— I'm afraid for all of us. George will never forgive defeat. He is dangerous, and I do not know what to expect from him. Travis walked over to his sister and put a hand on her shoulder.— We'll protect you, Ashley. No one else will hurt you. On the same evening, security measures began to be taken in the palace: security was strengthened, all entrances and exits were checked, additional locks and locks were installed. Ashley tried to hold on, but a storm was raging inside her. She kept thinking back to that ill-fated day when her life had changed forever. As the days passed, the search for George was fruitless. Ashley and Travis lived in constant suspense, waiting for the impact to come out of the darkness. The palace had become a fortress, but even behind the thick walls, there was a sense of menace. One morning a servant brought a letter addressed to Travis. He tore open the envelope and read the note, which contained only a few words: "Everything is just beginning." There was no signature, but Travis knew immediately who the message was from. A grimace of anger crossed his face. He clenched the note in his fist, rage coursing through his veins. "George is letting us know that the game isn't over yet," Travis said, looking up at the group. — We must be on our guard. He's somewhere nearby, and we need to find him before he strikes again. Ashley flinched at the words. She knew her brother was right, but the fear of the future held her in check. Still, she tried to stay calm for Travis's sake. With each passing day, the tension in the palace grew. Ashley increasingly retreated to her room, trying to sort out her feelings and fears. Travis, on the other hand, barely slept as he worked out plans to find George. Robert and Thomas worked tirelessly to gather information, and Annabelle tried to keep up the morale of the palace's inhabitants. At night, Ashley often woke up to her own screams. She had nightmares about George threatening her and Travis over and over again. These dreams made her even more vulnerable, and she became increasingly withdrawn. Meanwhile, Travis kept trying to find George. He turned to private detectives, mercenaries, even some representatives of the criminal world. But so far all efforts have been in vain. One evening, while sitting in the library, Travis suddenly felt a strange sense of deja vu. It seemed to him that the walls of the palace whispered something important to him, that the answer to the riddle was somewhere nearby. He closed his eyes, trying to concentrate, and suddenly it hit him: what if George had left them some other messages that they hadn't noticed? Travis shared his thoughts with Robert and Thomas. They agreed that this might be a clue. They began to search the palace thoroughly, checking every corner, every book, every piece of furniture. Ashley watched them go, feeling both hopeful and anxious. She didn't know what else the palace might be hiding, but she knew that their future depended on it. The search lasted several days, and finally Robert found a cache in one of the walls of the library. Inside were a few papers and a small box. When they opened the box, they found old letters and documents that were clearly related to George's business. Among the papers was a letter addressed to Ashley. In it, George wrote about his feelings, how he always thought she was special, but also mentioned his dark plans and that he would come back to get what he considers his own. Ashley read the letter and felt the blood drain from her face. She looked up at Travis, her eyes filled with fear and despair. "He won't stop," she whispered. "As long as he's alive, we're in danger. Travis put his arm around his sister, trying to convey his strength and confidence.— We'll find him, Ashley. And when we do, he'll answer for everything. They went back to studying the documents, hoping to find some clues about George's whereabouts. Every piece of paper, every line, could be a clue, and they knew they had to take every opportunity to protect themselves and their future. Meanwhile, in the dark corners of London, George worked out a new plan. He watched the palace from afar, studying the habits of its inhabitants, their weaknesses and possible vulnerabilities. He knew that sooner or later his time would come, and then he would strike a devastating blow. But Ashley and Travis didn't waste any time either. They were preparing to face the enemy, knowing that the battle wasn't over yet. Their love and determination grew stronger by the day, and they were willing to go all the way to protect each other and their future. In the palace, life went on as usual, but the shadow of menace still lingered in the air. Ashley and Travis knew that new challenges lay ahead, but they were prepared for them, because now they knew that their strength lay in their unity and love.
