CaorleThe sun was streaming through the blinds and the air was salty. When Matilde awoke, the girls had long since gone down to the beach; she splashed water on her face, put on a yellow swimsuit and went out on the balcony. The sea was almost flat and tiny waves washed lazily on the sandy shore under a cloudless, blue sky. She inhaled deeply and saw her daughters walking on the beach, their fair hair tied in ponytails. It was still early and most of the tourists wouldn’t make their way there for another hour.
