chapter one
It was early in the morning. Kendra sat close to the window, lost in thoughts and imaginations, as there was a zephyr within the atmosphere, as her mother screamed out her name, Kendra!!!!!, reminding her to continue with her house chores, she startled and jumped up to continue the chores.
According to the book here, she was a young girl who was born into a struggling family. Kendra Dean happened to be the third child of her parents. Mr and Mrs Dean gave birth to four children whose names are James Dean, Arthur Dean, Kendra Dean and Alex Deon. They happened to be three boys and a girl. Kendra happened to be the only girl growing up. Her elder brother, Arthur, was battling a different series of sicknesses, which made her lonely.
Most times, her mum and her eldest brother went out with her younger brother, while her dad also went out to hustle. While she stayed at home with sick Arthur, her brother, considering the fact that her parents were not financially capable of sending them to school, so if she was not at home she was out to work with her parents.at this time, Kendra was about nine years old. During this period, Kendra was left alone at home. She would always pick a book and a pen to try to write things down, because before now they had gone to school, not until things became very bad after her dad lost his gatekeeper job, so she was fluent at speaking and writing because she was very smart as a small girl.
Whenever Kendra was left alone at home, she always wrote things down. During this period, Arthur's sickness lasted for six months, so she was writing for about six months. So Kendra was at home writing for six months and this was when she discovered she had a talent. She was so committed and dedicated to her book so much. Whenever anything happens to her, she tells her book, her book became her friend, and something she always talks to, While she was growing up, she told someone close to her about her personal matters, and it became the talk of her friends, so she was always scared to talk to people, especially things personal to her. Her mum would always complain that she was always acting depressed because she kept literally everything to herself. Not until she started writing her book became her safe place.
That particular day they had all gone out. She was alone as she sat beside Arthur looking at him, sitting on the same spot for almost seven months now. She looked straight into his eyes, sighed deeply as she became really sober. She could do absolutely nothing. She just went close to his bed and checked if he was doing alright, and then she went back to her normal spot where her writing materials were, and at that point nobody knew she was writing.few minutes later she heard footsteps from the corridor coming to check. She saw her brothers and her mum as she ran to welcome and embrace them immediately they went in. Mrs Dean went straight to Arthur's bed, where he lay down helplessly as she immediately looked into his eyes, giving him some words of encouragement. He started coughing. She immediately screamed James' name to ask him to bring him a cup of water. As she immediately said, haa cough again." She looked up with her two hands on her head and said God please, I don't want to lose any of my children. As salty tears rolled down her cheeks, she quickly wiped out her tears and used a wet towel to massage his body because his temperature was a little bit high, so she stayed with him till he fell asleep. She stood up, ordering the last born of six years old to bring a black leather bag they had brought on their way back containing food items. She brought out spinach and ordered Kendra to chop it. She got into the kitchen to continue with other things as Mr Dean came in. He had just got back from work. Kendra and her brothers welcomed him calmly as he asked how Arthur was doing. Going straight to his bed, he rubbed his cheeks and gave him a peck on his head. After a while, he went inside the bathroom and took his bath not quite long the dinner was served. They had all eaten and had started clearing the plates. As there was a bang on the door going to check, it was the homeowner coming with a quit notice giving them the grace of two weeks except they had the money to renew, and the pay was now increased times to of the original payments. Then he left, there was tension in the house as the day became very dark and everyone slept unhappy.
