Her heart was raising. She took a step back and slammed her body into the book’s shelf behind her desk. The door’s handle moved again up and down and then it suddenly stopped. She heard the footsteps fading away, she closed her eyes and breathed in and out heavily.
‘SABRINA!’ - a loud scream made her body jump from the floor. It was a voice she was well familiar with. And as quickly she ran to unlock the door, Ryan was already standing outside her office. Chills ran through her body as her eyes met his. His eyebrows were furrowed, and he was looking at her like she was his most precious possession. - ‘Let’s go!’ - he commanded and grabbed her arm, but as he started walking, she suddenly stopped.
‘Hold on!’ - she pulled her arm and ran back to the office. She grabbed her purse, but as she was leaving her eyes catch a glimpse of the letter she was reading earlier. - ‘What?’ - she whispered under her nose. Under the section ‘Blood type’ there was written ‘B-’, but that it cannot be, because if her mother was B- then, how was she A+.
‘We need to go!’ - Ryan interrupted her. She shook her head and stuffed the letter in her bag as she followed him. They quickly walked out of the hospital and got into his car. There was no sign of the man who Sabrina earlier saw, but Ryan knew. He knew that all of this was a warning that he is running out of time. - ‘f**k!’ - he yelled, and she jumped from the sit next to him. He was furious, because he knew he will be the end of her and yet being there was probably her only chance. He pressed the bottom of the accelerator and drove off. - ‘Are you hurt???’ - Ryan asked her as he was looking straight on the road without even sharing a glimpse with her. He was angry, so angry that he wanted to drove back, and kill his father.
‘I am fine.’ - she said, staring at him, confused of his reaction. What was it that he was so mad about? Where did the other man go? Why he was even there? What did he want? Was he just a normal thief? Why did he have a gun? What was he looking for? Or who? She had so many questions in her head and not a single answer. Something did not fit...
‘You are staying with me tonight!’ - he broke her off her thoughts.
‘What?’ - she raised her eyebrows. - ‘Hell, no I don’t.’ - she contradicted him. He should know better how stubborn she was.
‘Sabrina...’ - he started again, but she stopped him.
‘I am going home! I had enough tonight.’ - she protested.
‘This is not a debate.’ - he acted like she was his hostage, but the truth was that he was blinded by rage at what might have happened tonight with her if he had not appeared on time.
‘Indeed, it is not. Either you drive me home or I am walking out of this car now.’ - she threatened him.
‘You are unbelievable. - Ryan shook his head, he pulled over and stopped the car. - ‘You can’t stay alone.’ - he turned around and his eyes met hers. She stared at him. There is no man who could not have notice his gaze at that particular moment. She saw it too. She saw the stranger sitting opposite her, but he wasn’t a stranger anymore. He was something else that she couldn't explain to herself yet. Who could of guess that in the matter of weeks, he was going to become her biggest strength.
‘Fine. Then you can stay too. Just drive me home, please.’ - he stared at her for a while and then he turned the car around to drove back to her place.
As Sabrina unlocked the door of her apartment and they both stepped in, she felt the night breeze tingling her body. She shivered. She looked straight in her living room, but something strange caught her eyes. Her terrasse door was wild open.
‘Wait!’ - she raised her hand in front of Ryan’s chest.
‘What is it?’ - he looked at her confused.
‘This door was not open when I left today.’ - the moment she said it. Ryan pushed her behind him and took out of his back a gun, pointing it straight to the open terrasse.
‘Oh, god.’ - she trembled. That made her step back and pushed herself into the wall. She was staring at the gun with her eyes full of terror.
‘Shit.’ - Ryan screwed, the moment he realized that he shouldn’t supposed to do that in front of her. He was sloppy. Sabrina was making him do mistake after mistake. There won't be longer until she finally figures it all out. Ryan knew this day will come. But it will not be today. It will not be now! - ‘Hey, hey...’ - he leaned close to her, but she moved aside. - ‘Calm down, look at me.’ - she raised her eyes. - ‘It’s just for protection, alright? I am not going to hurt you.’ - it took her a second to examine his eyes before she nodded her head at him. - ‘Wait here.’ - he said and started moving around with the gun pointed straight, checking all the rooms, but there was nobody. Whoever it was they were long gone.
When he returned to where he left Sabrina, she was still there against the wall. She did not move an inch. She was standing like a statue.
‘It’s okey. You can come in.’ - he said, but she did not move again.
‘You have a gun?’ - she suddenly snapped at him.
‘It is legal. I keep it in my car just in case.’ - he reassured her, but she was still doubting him.
‘In case of what?’ - another question dropped down her mouth.
‘I was attacked. It is a story for another time.’ - Ryan said and looked at her, but she quickly moved her eyes away. - ‘Are you afraid of me.’ - he asked.
‘I don’t know. Do I have to be?’ - Sabrina said and raised her sight.
‘No.’ - he shook his head. He moved closer, but she step aside.
‘I will take a shower. Suit yourself.’ - she said, and he saw her body walking out of the room.
As the water began to trickle down her face, millions of questions flooded her mind again. Something did not match up. There were too many unknowns. Why would someone want to hurt her family. Was it a coincidence what happened today, or did someone was after her too? You would probably think that the smartest decision for her was to go to the police, but she wasn’t a person who will just let things go in someone else's hands before figuring out the whole truth herself. She was thinking she knew everything, but whole her life she could not understand what it is missing so much that she could not feel a slight piece of happiness. Her life was a blank sport of unknows which soon will hit her like a massive rock. She signed and turned the shower off. She wrapped around her body a small tower that covering her butt, but her legs were all exposed. The moment she stepped out of the bathroom a weird sent hit her nose.
She went to the kitchen with her bare feet and her whole body wet to see Ryan standing there with a knife in his hand cutting some vegetables. It was noisy from his fast cutting and he didn’t notice Sabrina approaching him.
‘What are you doing?’ - she shot out at him with a weird expression on her face. His gaze rose from her sweet voice tingling his ears but the moment he met her wet, towel-covered body, he stopped cutting and froze.
‘s**t, sweetness.’ - he stared at her unable to move his eyes aside, scanning her from up till down and back again. Her face heated up, when she realised that she was only cover with a towel and nothing else. - ‘Um, I am cooking.’ - he spoke again. - ‘You need to eat.’ - he said in that possessive voice that made her tremble.
‘You can cook.’ - she said back surprised. That clearly impressed her, but what mostly caught her attention was his wearing. Earlier she didn’t notice him because of how overwhelmed she was about what happened in the hospital. He wasn’t with his normal suit like he always goes around his meetings. He was wearing dark blue ripped jeans and a white T-shirt that outlined his entire body. His sculpted hands stretched the sleeves of his T-shirt as if they would tear it at any moment. She couldn’t hold her gaze to admire how perfect he looked like. He lifted his arm, and his palm went through his blond hair. A smile appeared on his face.
‘You looked surprised but believe me you haven't eaten a better meal than this.’ - he said proudly and giggled. But then one of the pots on the stove began to boil. - ‘Oh, shit.’ - he screwed and moved it out of the heater. Sabrina started laughing. She suddenly forgot all of what happened tonight and felt free to enjoy his idiotic behaviour. Even if she couldn’t realize it yet, the hole in her chest were slowly beginning to disappear. - ‘You need to try it. Come on.’ - Ryan said and raised a big wooden spoon with a piece of the sauce he was still cooking. She stepped closer to him and open her mouth to taste it, but when he moved the spoon away from her face, his hand went up and touched her cheek softly.
‘Wow. It is so good.’ - she lifted her arm against her lips to swallow the taste of the sauce in her mouth, giggling.
‘I told you so.’ - he made a proud face and she laughed again. - ‘You have something...’ - he leaned closer to remove the sauce that had messed her upper lip. He ran his thumb over her lip.
Her face didn’t make any reaction back at him neither of joy nor of dislike as her eyes were looking straight at him. She just stood there staring at him while his gaze slowly went down, and he drew a line with his fingers on her bare wet neck and shoulders, she trembled. He moved a step closer to her. Her heart began beating faster by the thought of his lips against hers, she was well familiar with the taste of it. In a split second his lips pressed against her lips and they both sank into their passion for each other. Their lips dance in sync and their tongues touched passionately through the kisses. - ‘Fuck.’ - Ryan leaned down and grabbed her off the floor, leading her the way to her bedroom. The moment they walked in her towel dropped down on the floor and she was bare naked in front of him. He took a second to admire her fine curves like it was the first time he sees her, before his lips pressed against her neck. He was kissing her and he was touching her like she was the finest diamond he had ever touched...

‘NO!’ - Sabrina screamed after the woman standing in front of her.
‘Stay away from me!’ - she yelled back and start walking away.
‘Please... Mom.’ - Sabrina felt down on her knees, crying. - ‘Don’t go! Don’t leave me!’
‘How many times I must tell you...I am not your MOTHER.’ - the woman yelled again and kept walking from her.
‘No, please. I am begging you.’ - Sabrina leaned and grabbed her hand, but she instantly pulled back. She started fading away from her sight. - ‘NO!’ - she yelled after her again. - ‘Come back.’ - she cried out. Then out of nowhere, a gunshot sounded, and the woman dropped down to the floor.
‘MOM...’ - she yelled, and her eyes snapped open, and she jumped from the bed whole sweaty and in tears.
‘Hey, hey...’ - Ryan grabbed her shoulders and turned her around so he could see her. - ‘It's just a dream. It’s okay.’ - he hugged her. He could feel her heart beating like crazy through her chest, as it will explode in a split second.
She suddenly pulled away from him, when she remembered the letter from the hospital. She walked to her purse and started digging in.
‘Where is it?’ - she was throwing everything out. Until she finally took it out and opened it. Ryan stood up from the bed and walked next to her.
‘What’s wrong?’ - he kneeled to where she was sitting and stared at her, thinking she is still in shock of the dream she just had, but that was until her mouth dropped open and the words coming out of it pierced him like a gunshot in his chest.
‘My parents. I think they are not my real parents.’ - Sabrina said and breathed out, staring at him. - ‘I think I am adopted.’
