In truth, I wasn’t an unhappy single man. One was supposed to love themselves before one could love someone else. I lived by that motto. I enjoyed working with Mina, traveling the world, finding antiques, and snuggling in the corner with a thick Stephen King novel in my small house on Chantier Street in Harker. I liked Russian tea cookies (my weakness), a variety of smelly cheeses, B-rated movies, almost all the holidays, heavy rainstorms, Walt Disney characters, and bright greens. I believed with all my heart that the man of my dreams was somewhere in the world waiting for me to find him, or vice versa. I also believed that life was short and I had to play its game hard.
