Lou
My heart shattered when Fae explained to both my mother and me, in detail what she had endured with those scumbags. I was glad most of them were dead, but if I had heard this recollected memory sooner, I definitely would have kept them alive longer and tortured them for the rest of eternity.
I will find these hunters. This Javier character... I smelled him all over her. Tan growled in the back of my mind.
Buddy, I already know we will find him... we will get our revenge. Now let's cater to our f*****g mate and stop worrying about that man for now.
Tan grumbled and eventually ended up agreeing with me. He knew Fae's mental status was more important at this time and I didn't like seeing her like this, broken, unstable, and afraid of me... for the most part. Fae used to be so strong and extremely stubborn, but now? She was frail, sensitive, and confused.
With my mother's help, I could definitely see things looking up.
My mother turned to me with her hand on her chest. "What should we do? I mean... I can put her back to sleep for a little longer or we can take a trip to the human world and talk to those wolves." she muttered and readjusted her auburn hair on her shoulder.
I placed a hand on my hip and ran the other through my hair. "Yeah, we need to find out what the hell they were hit with that caused them to black out long enough for them to take her." I thought for a moment and anger immediately coursed through me, "Unless they were in on it."
Fae exhaled a heavy breath and wiped her tears. "I want to come with you. I can't just sit here and be alone with my thoughts."
I raised a brow at her, "Are you sure? I don't want you to overexert yourself."
She's going to kill you for that one. Tan snickered in my mind.
What makes you say that? I replied.
A wing sprouted out of my back and wrapped around my body as Fae rose to her feet and threw the closest object to her at me.
"I don't want to sit here and act like I need all of the protection in the world," she growled.
I poked my head from behind my wing and glanced over at her. My mother burst into laughter at the scene.
"Well, it looks like she's made up her mind." she clasped my shoulder and turned to leave. "And you were so worried that she would take forever to come back around." she snickered at me, "Get some more rest, its only midnight after all, dad and I will see you in the morning." she stated and left the room.
Glancing over at Fae, her brows were still furrowed and they held a very angry expression. "There she is," I whispered.
Fae raised a brow at me and plopped herself down into the comforter. "What do you mean by that?" She asked.
I winked at her and approached the bedside. "You, I didn't think you'd remember your old self. When I found you... you were so...broken."
She placed her hand on her chest as she spoke. "There's something inside of me that's angry. I don't know exactly how to explain it. My body is so fearful of everything, and my memory of you has yet to come through." She sighed heavily, "I... I want to believe the things you are telling me are the truth, Lou, but I can't for the life of me remember."
I gave her a saddened smile. Her words cut right through me until I glanced over at the nightstand and thought of an idea. "If I can refresh your memory of us, will that help you trust me?" I asked, grabbing the picture of us from our engagement party.
"If it helps bring back any of the memories we've had, I'll do it." She stated.
I handed the framed picture of us with our noses touching, bright smiles on our faces in the best lighting. We had taken that picture right before she had disappeared. It was the happiest day of my life. "You were so beautiful that day and you still are." I whispered to her as she took the frame from my hands and stared at it in the darkness.
Fae raised her finger and a small ball of light formed at the tip, illuminating the room and the photo. She smiled softly at it as she examined both her features and mine. Her lips moved but no words came out of her mouth. It was like she was talking to herself.
I leaned down and kissed her forehead before I walked around to my side of the bed and sat on the edge, holding my head in my hands. Goddess, I pray that you let my mate remember me.

Months passed, with wedding plans postponed, we were able to gain more information on Javier and where to find him, but the pack of wolves was nowhere to be found. Even when we had gone to question them, there was only blood and bodies left behind along their space. My father and my brother David were furious and now things were getting more and more dangerous. On another note, Fae had more and more flashbacks that helped us track down what Javier was after and her memory of us.
The scars that were left on her body from her brutal torture had started to heal as time pressed on. I was glad that things were looking better for her, but deep down inside I could feel her fear and anxiety. What was she going to do if she had to face Javier? Why did he kidnap her to begin with? None of the pieces made sense. From what we gathered, he was looking for something that was still in the fairy world that they did not have access to and she was the only one who could retrieve it. The problem? No one knew what this object was.
I placed my hands on my hips and glanced around the bloodied territory, "Goddess, help me not to go on a killing spree for this human." I growled.
Fae placed her hand on my arm and sighed heavily. "We will find him. Surely that i***t is somewhere around here. He cant hide for long, you know his scent." she reassured me before she turned to head back toward the hidden portal to our kingdom.
I ran a hand through my hair and huffed before following after her.
