26. ANOTHER WIFE FOR THE BOSS

My body shot up and I knew it was morning. The men were screaming on the bathroom being fully occupied. I took my deodorant and greased my armpits then pulled the pair of trousers that I had taken from the men who had came in to do unspeakable things to me. The pants had ropes to pull so I pulled and tied them around my waist with them sticking. I pulled on their socks and looked through the boots, realizing I could only wear two of them, the other two too big for me. I set the bigger ones aside. I then wore their blooded t-shirts, my own wet where they hang and needing some more cleaning. I huffed.   The wet clothes were pulled down, going to wash them in the animal shelter then came back to hang them. I took my tooth brush, my tooth paste pressed on the toothbrush to brush my teeth. I went back to the animal shelter where I began rinsing my mouth of all the foam. I was done in no time, walking back to my cell to put my things away. I picked up the two boots along with one pair of trousers and the t-shirt that I had borrowed.   I walked out, moving through the hall only to close my eyes.   “Can you all please put clothes on, my lord.” I cried out with the men laughing out loud. I huffed.   “Can anyone tell me where Samuel Locci’s cell is?” I requested.   “The next building, cell number five from the door.” One man replied.   “Thank you,” I mentioned, eyes still shut to walk out of my building. I walked to the next and it was even worse. Everyone was naked. There was no way of getting around it. My neck was tipped back, walking while staring at the ceiling.   The hall went quiet, daring to lower my head, my eyes closed. I peaked, wanting to see how far I was. Just one more cell. I walked on, turning with eyes closed again.   “Hi Samuel, I hope you are dressed?” I called.   “I am dressed ma’am.” His voice came with me exhaling to pull his cell door, rushing in to finally open my eyes.   “Thank God, I can’t take seeing another naked mam.” I said out with Samuel chuckling.   I froze where I was. I had not really paid attention to him before. He was tall and not really bulky. It had me doubt myself but then, I placed all I carried down on his mattress which was in the same condition as mine was, except the blood of course.   “I brought your t-shirt along with gifts.” I said as he stood up, so tall I had to crane my neck to stare at him. He was fully dressed, walking over to look over at the clothes.     “I hope the boots fit you.” I said with him chuckling, raising an eyebrow at me then nod his head.   “They will Ma’am, thank you.” He said back.   “Okay, thank you again, a good day to you.” I said, turning and walking out.   I closed the cell door, finding naked men staring at the cell I had just walked out from, sure they had heard everything.   “Come on guys” I cried out, closing my eyes and running out of there with none of the men laughing which puzzled me but happy they had not.   I was ready for the day, running over to the training grounds. There were barely any people there but Max was there. I turned just as I was running, running back where I came from.   “PRINCESS.”   I had brought it on myself, hadn’t I?   Fvck.   My body turned back around, there was no escaping from there. He called me by his fingers, mentioning me to come closer. I walked to him, standing before him.   I was sure I looked horrible. All my hair gone, bruises all over my face.   “You are late.” He said with me frowning. There was barely anyone there and I was sure it was before four o’clock just by the way the men had been strolling back in the cells.   “Being early is on time, being on time is late and being late is death.” Max said with me nearly rolling my eyes.   “Sorry sir.” I said.   “Do laps.” He called out and I did not even fight. I turned and ran to the edge of the area then began running. I ran and ran, thinking he would tell me to stop but he did not. He sat at the center, whistling.   More men poured over, joining me.   “How many laps have you done?” A man asked.   “More than twenty, I am sure.” I could barely even speak, my legs hurting so bad. The running area was large, so each lap was hell itself. Sweat dripped off my body, my t-shirt wet all over my chest and back.   “Okay, I want fifty laps from all of you, beginning now.” Max called out as I cried out. It was unfair, I had already been doing them.   “What did you say princess?” Max called with me swallowing my words.   “Nothing sir!” I shot out.   “Good.” He said back.   I ran until I could not, stopping where I was, heaving with my hand on my chest. I felt as if my heart would stop.   “Ten more for anyone who takes a break.”   My head shot up, staring at Max. The things I would do to that pretty face. I groaned; nothing would help me. I continued running, moving, on and on and on.   One of the men began a song and as I looked it was Samuel. I raised a brow, all the men joining in. It was not a song in fact, it was chant men sing when working or fighting. I joined in, them moving in one pace. I took their pace, singing the words and it gave me such energy. Soon it was fun, the whole team moving together, not even feeling the pain or the strain. The sun came out, gracing us and burning our faces with its sharp rays but they were not as powerful as our chant.   When it got harder, the chant was sung louder, the louder it being sang, the higher the surge of energy I felt. I kept moving and at a point I was sure the men had finished their laps but they continued running, adding my ten laps.   It was then that I realized they actually were ranks even between the men. There were those that led and those that followed. I would make sure to watch with time, to see the working dynamics of the morgue.   I nearly died when we finished the last ten laps. My whole body was wet with sweat, lips dry and perched, skin burning and irritated with the aches from the previous day intensified.     “PRINCESS!”   I did not even blink. My body shot up, closing my eyes to open them as I turned and ran to Max. He stood eating a sandwich. I felt my stomach ache, the hunger clawing at my empty belly. I was thirsty, tired and hurt.   “Go tell Vee to train you.” Max said, already turning away with his sandwich in hand, literally devouring it. Who the hell was Vee?   My body turned, looking around to walk to the nearest man in the field.   “Good morning, can you please tell me who Vee is?” I asked politely with the man frowning and shaking his head.   I nod my head and moved from him to the next.   “Good morning, can you please tell me who Vee is?” I asked, the man shaking his head.   I frowned, moving to the next man, receiving the same answer.   “Whoever you are, you are disturbing my men!” The instructor shot out so harshly as I froze where I was.   “I am sorry, can you please just help me by pointing me towards Vee?” I asked as the instructor turned red where he was.   “Did you just back talk me?” He asked. My eyes shot out wide, shaking my head.   What the hell?   “So I am a liar?”   Oohh my.   I shook my head.   “No sir.” I said back hoping it would roll over but not with my luck. The man seemed to get more furious with each split-second passing.   “You disturb my class then disrespect me. Who the hell do you think you are, come here!” The man was literally screaming as I shook my head. I actually wanted to turn and run but found myself walking towards the man with my shaking legs. I did not know what would come but he could not kill me, right? I would take whatever was coming.   “Get on the floor right now!”   I did not waste time, my body dropping to the floor, lying flat.   “Begin doing press ups, fists.” He said as I swallowed. My head pound, not thinking I could bare through them. The ground was not the nicest, gravel with tiny stones.   There was no option, my hands folding into fists to lean on them. I had never done a press up in my life and as I did my first my arms shook, it not as easy as it looked.   I thought I would fall but I learned my lesson the previous day. I kept moving up and down no matter the pain.   Pain was nothing but a feeling, if you moved past it, nothing could stop you. I kept telling myself, telling myself to move past the pain but it was easier said than done.   I went up and down, sweat and mucus falling down my face. I wanted to cry, feeling the stones dig into my skin.   The pain was excruciating, closing my eyes and telling myself to move past it all.   The sounds of the men training not far from me dissolved. I kept waiting for the instructor to tell me to stop but he never did and I never stopped.   My toes burned hard, sure they would snap but I moved past the pain. What is pain? It was nothing, I would not be bound by it. I moved up and down, my whole body shaking, my skin red as if I would bleed. The sun had no mercy. I was not sure how long had passed but my arms were soon turning into stone, not wanting to move. I left like my bones would shatter, the sob just stuck in my throat, not daring to let it out. A tear escaped, quickly pushing the others back, hoping no one had seen or thought it was sweat.   “PRINCESS!” The voice came harsh and I knew there were consequences I was about to face. My whole body paled, waiting for his next words.   I did not even know if to stop or continue, not sure which was worse. I found myself frozen where I was, my arms not willing to bend anymore, my body not willing to move anymore.   A hand came on my shoulder, pushing me over as I fell on the ground. A hand went to my head.   “What the fvck.” I heard Max curse, that was the reason why I chopped it off in the first place but I realized my mistake as his hand went to my neck next.   He gripped it and pull me up with it as my hands shot to his arm, clawing at it and tried to pull it away.   “I tell you to go and train and you refuse. You refuse to train.” He was literally shouting at my face, his saliva spitting on my skin having me shake and close my eyes.   I shook my head from side to side, wanting to explain but before I could, he was walking with me. I could not even breathe, clawing at his hands and that seemed to make him scream even more.   My body was thrown to the ground, heaving with tears falling off my eyes.   I took a deep breath followed by another, crawling away from Max.   “Are you crying, are you crying Princess!”   I shook my head; I was not crying. He had been choking me, the tears came on their own. I opened my mouth to explain but it was too late. I heard the gun go off, a body falling with a thud as I heaved. My hand was over my chest. I had not been crying but I was crying at that point, my chest closing in.   Lord, no, please.   “What do you think we do here, braid each other’s hair.” Max shot out, his voice like fire on my skin. I shook hard with my eyes blurry.   I heard another gun shot go off with another thud of a body.   I was trying to stop my tears but everything was happening so fast.   “She thinks we play games here, let the hounds go. The boss can always find another wife, this one is too useless.” Max shot out to the boys with my blood running cold.   I heaved, my feet scrambling away and off the ground. I looked all around, seeing the men that had been holding the hounds to another direction turn them around with much difficulty. Eight men held the ropes to one hound and there were two hounds there, barking and thirsting for blood with drool hanging over their sharp shiny teeth as if they had been polished.   No one had to tell me as I turned. Everything seemed to happen in slow motion as I took off running towards the cells but arms gripped me and threw me towards the hounds that were suddenly turning with much anger at the sight of me struggling. It would not be long before they were released. The more the men restrained them, the more the hounds got riled up.   I ripped my body away from the arms gripping me, my boots slipping on the gravel but I caught myself and began running. I ran with all I had to the forest and no one stopped me. I could barely see, nothing making much sense but the only thing in my mind to run. I tore through the forest, tree brunches hitting me hard and drawing blood from my skin but I ran as if there was no tomorrow. My life depended on it, barely seeing what was in front of me. My foot tripped over a root and I went face down but did not even relish in the pain or my bleeding nose before I picked up from the floor and continued running.   A loud growl echoed and I knew they were released. I knew they were coming for me; it was a promise that they would catch and devour me. There was no way I could outrun them, there was no way I could live if they caught up to me. My eyes fell on a tree. I quickly climbed over it. Holding on with everything I had. My arms, my hands and the skin ripped open with blood painting the tree. I climbed as fast as I could but not fast enough because just half way up I saw the trees shake so hard. The sound of their paws just shaking the ground as if it would open wide. They jumped into sight and I held the scream back.   They were large and hideous, trained to devour nothing but meat. I tried to move faster, slipping now and again, barely holding on as my world just shook all around me. I would fall, it was inevitable and when that happened, they would devour me to my death. I could not hold on for long. My eyes went even wider as they began climbing. They were jumping from branch to branch, slipping and falling down yet even with the pain, they would rather die than let me go.   The tree shook with each time they jumped up, heavy bodies not caring what would happen to them.   I could not survive them.   I closed my eyes, climbing higher and they were getting closer.   There was no time to think, everything in a scramble and in that scramble my body flew in the air, hitting with both feet only for my knees to bend, my body rolling but I wasted  no time.   I ran as if springs had been slipped under my boots, jumping and running, trying to create a gap but they were after me, having jumped down themselves.   This was not the way I was going to go out, be damned if I would give up at this point. After all the people that had died, there was no way I would let my soul be that tainted for nothing.   The ground shook, hearing their groans as they were closing in on me.   My eyes looked all around, I was a minute out from breaking out of the forest and I would not give up. I saw a large rock, running to it, skidding to a stop with my hands shaking and bleeding so bad.   I picked the rock up, turning just as the hound was jumping for me. I was not going to die that way. The heavy rock was flung, it meeting the hound in the air, knocking it only for the hound to fall with a thud. I turned, not waiting to see the blood and the anger that would arise from my actions.   My feet sprang out, running until I thought the air would choke me. The second hound was behind me and at the rate it was going, it would make so much damage in the fighting fields, there was no way they would contain it.   I stopped, looking around to see a branch that had fell off a tree. It would be heavy but it would do. I picked it up, feeling my arms complain.   The branch was short and spikey.   I swung it in the air, smacking the hound just behind me. He fell off but came back more fueled than before. I went over and over again but it was futile. The hound jumped on me, smacking the branch away, his claws nearly digging into my chest.     I saw my life flash before my eyes but I was not scared, I was not afraid. I looked at it in the eyes and told it to fvck off. My hands went in my trousers where I had stashed my knife as he tried getting his grip on me so he could have a good bite.   The knife was slipped out, jabbing it in his neck over and over again with blood spilling all over me. It groaned in pain, digging its claws deep in my shoulder. I pushed his chin up, preventing him from snapping my head off while just slitting his throat, the blood getting in my mouth, all over my face.   He stopped fighting as I shook so bad, drenched to the bone.   I spit out the blood, wanting to break down, wanting to cry out but I knew the other hound was not far off. I could not stay there and weep.   My body pushed the hound off, getting up, stumbling for the first few steps before I broke into a run, my knife in hand, nothing to stop me from getting out of there alive, not the damn hounds and definitely not Max, no one would because no one could.
