Chapter 2Still a bit bleary-eyed, certainly heavy-footed, after a restless night, Titus greeted Ezra at the kitchen window overlooking the back lawn. “Good morn—”
Ezra leapt nearly high enough to land on the countertop.
“Jumpy much?”
The coffee trickle down the front of his teal T-shirt traveled all the way to the top of his jeans before Titus could get to it with the dishtowel from the cupboard knob.
“Did you burn yourself?”
“I’m good. And you’re naked.”
“How come you’re not?”
“Because it’s one in the afternoon.”
“Oh. I guess I slept half the day away again.”
