CHAPTER 55
Brad didn’t know what he was supposed to do. Megan jumped up from the table and threw on her shoes.
“Should I come too?” he asked. “Is there anything I can do to help?”
“I don’t know,” Megan called after as she followed Susannah out the door. “Just lock up or something, and I’ll find a way to get in touch with you soon.”
She slammed the door shut, and just a few seconds later he heard the sound of the car squealing out of the driveway.
What was going on? He had to get to County. He knew that much at least. There might not be a single thing he could do to help, but he wasn’t just going to sit around at home, waiting to hear what had happened.
A few minutes later, he pulled in front of the hospital. He raced into the lobby, but he was the only one there.
