Time had never stood still like it did for Brad that night in the hospital lobby.
Knowing that at any moment Megan might be called away to Kitty’s bedside made him hurry through everything he wanted to tell her.

According to the clock, they had been talking for a little over twenty minutes, but it felt like lifetimes.
“You’re different,” Megan finally admitted.
“I don’t feel all that different.” He grinned. “Unless you’re talking about the fact that now I know how stupid I was to leave you there in Costa Rica.”
