(Third Person POV)
"Why isn't Eliana with you, Calvin? She is your wife. Why in the world did you have to bring your... mistress? You can't keep bringing Kylie with you to every family event. Do you have any idea what this can do to the family?" Sarah, Calvin's mom says.
Though she whispered, you could hear the anger in her voice as she threw daggers with her gaze at Kylie who smiled, smuggling.
"Mom, how many times do I have to repeat myself? Nothing is going on between Kylie and me. I couldn't come by myself, that's why I brought her."
"No. That's why you had to bring your wife. Not this... hussy!" Sarah says, pointing discreetly at Kylie.
"I told you, my wife is at home. She didn't feel well, so she stayed home." Calvin says nonchalantly.
"Oh... how convenient, isn't it?" Sara adds, making Calvin puff his cheeks frustratingly, running his hand through his wavy hair.
"Calvin, it's obvious your mom is uncomfortable with me here. Maybe I should go. I don't want to inconvenience anyone. " Kylie says, bringing her hand to her pretend tears.
"Kylie, you're not being an inconvenience to anyone. Mom, how can you--" Calvin says, holding Kylie's hands with a warm expression, making Sarah's suspicions grow.
"Mom, just deal with it. Kylie is already here. Besides, I think she's actually nice. Funnier, prettier... and better to talk to than Eliana." Calvin's sister says, making Sarah's eyes widen in anger and shock.
"Mercedes!" She scolds her daughter, making Mercedes roll her eyes and shrug her shoulders.
Calvin's demeanor was cold, unemotional, and unperturbed.
Mercedes grunts, shutting her eyes in annoyance and pinching the bridge of her nose, "Can we just enjoy the evening, please? Mom, I know you worry about what Grandma will say." she says, making Sarah fume angrily.
"Don't worry about Grandma, Mom. I promise I'll keep Grandma entertained enough so she doesn't even notice Eliana is missing or that Kylie is here, ok?" Calvin adds, making Sarah's anger boil.
"You—"
"Besides, I wanted Kylie to come too, Mom. Eliana is so boring. She doesn't do anything other than stay home all day and spend my brother's money all the time." Mercedes adds, making Sarah's eyes widen.
"Stay at home? First of all, Eli is your sister-in-law. Have a little more respect for her. And two...is that what you think? That Eliana does nothing? Is that what you think stay-at-home wives do all day? Nothing?" Sarah asks, her anger increasing by the minute.
Mercedes rolls her eyes, folding her hands in front of her chest.
"Yes. I mean, look at Kylie? She's young, pretty, and is going to college now, all while being a full-time supermodel! Eliana is nothing but a freeloader. Spending away my brother's fortune every time she and her friends go out on vacation. She does nothing but shop every day and doesn't even bother to cook or clean. If you ask me, Calvin should have married someone like Kylie. Not some boring, freeloading, Gold ding hussy who pretends to be a good stay-at-home housewife all day."
"Why you... you... Ugh! I give up. There's no dealing with both. I'll have to call Eliana myself. " Sarah says, grabbing her phone.
"And just so you know, Eliana does more than stay at home and shop," Sarah says as she turns to leave.
"Yeah, I know. She shops and goes on vacations at least once a month. If you ask me, Calvin spoils her far too much." Mercedes says, raising a brow in defiance.
The baby stirs, feeling the energy shift. The uncomfortable awkwardness in the air was palpable, making the baby begin to fuss.
"Great, now we've woken up my baby. Can we leave it be?" Mercedes adds, grabbing the baby out of the bassinet and cradling her in her arms.
"For your sakes Mercedes, Eliana better come. You should be the last to look down on her, given you and your dear husband are living under my roof, eating from my food, and comfortably being cared for by your father and me. Or did you forget your husband has been jobless for the past eight months?" Sarah says, making Mercedes' eyes widen in surprise.
"Mother, that's diff--"
"Different? Different my ass. So if you want to receive your monthly allowance, you'd better pray Eli comes tonight, or you can bet I will pause yours and your husband's allowance this month. Because by the looks of it, you're wasting it on useless things as well. If it wasn't for your father and me furnishing or buying all the baby's necessities, she would have nothing right now but a useless mother and father. " Sarah says, scolding Mercedes.

Eiana's POV
I raised my glass, clinking it together with my friends as we sat at the bar waiting for my best friend, Brooks, to get here.
"What is taking him so long? I want to party already!" Shannon says as she took a gulp of her martini, downing it in one go.
I chuckled, looking at my phone light up with a notification from Brooks.
"Where are you guys? I just got here. This place is overcrowded." He types, making my smile widen.
"At the bar where are you?" I typed back, glancing around the crowded room.
The place was indeed a popular club.
Given it was Friday night, the place was crowded with people ranging from college students to people who were enjoying the night after a long week of work.
"I'm about to park. Be there soon. The line is crazy long." He typed.
I showed the message to my friend Aria, who chuckled, downing her beer and standing up.
"I got this. Be right back." She says as she walks toward the entrance.
She was dating the owner of the club, which meant everyone at the club literally treated her as if she were the boss.
She pushed the crowd and made her way toward the entrance where the bouncers were.
She signaled to one guy and spoke in his ear. The guy nodded and pressed his earpiece, communicating with the bouncers outside.
She turned, giving us a thumbs-up, making us chuckle.
Brooks was without a doubt, a handsome man; tall, with broad shoulders and a physique worthy of envy.
He could easily be mistaken for a professional football player with that body filled with all the muscles in all the right places.
As soon as I turned there he was, my best friend Brooks, walking into that busy room like he owned the place.
Even in that crowded room, loud music and party lights going in every direction, he still made heads turn.
That was just Brooks. It didn't matter where he went, as soon as he entered a room all eyes turned to him.
That was just his aura. Demanding, yet... humble. Powerful, yet... noble. Sexy, alluring, and a man worthy of drooling over.
