There was a chill in the air. It made the hairs on my skin prick up in awareness and I couldn't help but feel a slight tinge of fear that was building up inside of me. It felt like shadows were crawling out from the walls and I clenched my jaw when the footsteps neared.
Alaric was still standing with Annabelle and I could see that he was trying to control himself. I noticed the way his eyes kept glazing over and I instantly knew he had caught sight of whoever the intruders were as soon as a sickening snarl ripped through the air.
