Miguel stands at my door with a cute smile. He's carrying my handbag and box of my belongings from work. I take the handbag from him and beam. "Thanks, dude. Get in." Miguel scampers in and I shut the door. He places the box on the table. Swiftly, he pulls me in a tight big hug. Okay... that was... unexpected... And weird. Things get a little awkward. He places his head on my shoulder and pats my back. "I'm sorry for what you went through this morning," he says softly. "I'm sorry I couldn't defend you. I'm here if you need anything." I pull away from the hug and giggle. "Ummm... thanks. But, can you get back to being Mean Miguel?" He glares at me. "I'm trying to be nice here..." "And it's creepy." "You're welcome, you ungrateful cow." He tosses himself on the couch and sighs in exhaustion. "Thanks for bringing my stuff, dude." He looks at me in sympathy. "Anything for you... I'm here to say how sorry I am. What happened today-" "Bla! Bla! Bla!" I cut him off. "What do you want me to get you? Water? Juice?" "Just water." As I head over to fetch the drink in the fridge, he says loudly, "Mr. Wales is the father of the woman whose husband you snatched." I almost drop the glass of water. Mr. Wales is the father of Axel's wife? No wonder he didn't think twice about firing me. I hold the glass firmly as I hand it over to Miguel. "Next time you snatch someone's husband, make sure they ain't related to the boss." He mocks me. "Oh! I almost forgot!" He facepalms himself, squealing. He takes out a dish of chocolate icecream and I shriek in excitement. Then that excitement immediately fades when today's events come flooding back in my head. Miguel frowns. "I thought chocolate icecream is the shortest way to your heart." "It is..." I mutter. "But?" He quirks an eyebrow. I rub the nape of my neck and bow my head in distress. "Miguel..." He cuts me off and rubs the back of my hand softly. "You don't have to explain yourself. I understand what you're going through right now. I know it's tough and I'd be lying if I say I can imagine how it feels. But you know what I can say..." I chuckle at how he's babbling words fast like some rapper. "I can say... let's go to The Trikka Bar & Grill and have fun! Eat meat! Drink our problems away! Drinks on me! What do you say?" My face lights up. "Yes!" His lips curve into a suspicious smile. "Although I have one condition..." ***** It's the senior prom tonight. Breaker is my date to prom! I slide into my new red lacy panties. I grab a matching red bra from the closet. I'm fastening it behind my back when Malone scampers in before I fasten the hook. "What the hell!" I scream covering up myself with a towel. I scowl at him. "You brat! Haven't you ever heard of the word, KNOCK!!!" "Is it a Portuguese word?" Malone acts clueless as he plonks on my bed, giggling sheepishly. "Get out of my room!" I demand. Malone looks at me like I'm speaking a foreign language and keeps on giggling like some i***t. "Mom!" I yell. "Your brat doesn't want to get out of my room and I want to dress up." "That brat is your twin," my mom says loudly with a laugh. Malone cackles even harder, throwing his head back like a little kid. "Plus," my mom adds. "He's the sweetest thing. He can't bite!" I scowl at him, boiling up inside as he's dying of laughter throwing his feet in the air. I hate him. "Lookatchu' looking like the cutest doughnut," he teases. "A fried fat cute doughnut." I sneer. "What do you want?" "That i***t you call a boyfriend to be minced into meat and served to dogs! But I can't get what I want, right?" I glare at him. "Instead of focusing too much on my relationship, maybe you should try to dig deep into why you can't get a girl to like you for a week." He sits up, irked. "Hey... Hey... Let's not get things twisted," he corrects. "I am the one who dumps them. I'm a king. I hate the smell of trash." I scoff. "But trash seems to be your type." He smirks. "Well, that makes two of us..." I growl. "Listen, Brat, I'm dressing up. Breaker is going to be here any minute from now. So get your stinky ass off my bed, get out of my room and go find fun elsewhere!" I grumble. "Jeez! Don't you have a girl to go with to prom?" "Prom is stupid..." he scoffs. "Well, because no girl wants to go with you!" I retort. "Hey Doughnut, I'm not here to talk about me," he says seriously. "And I don't know why you have to cover up yourself with a towel. I have seen you a thousand times with lingerie!" "I have not fastened my bra," I growl. He stands from the bed and helps fasten the hook of my bra. "There you go..." It's weird when he does anything nice for me. Now there's an awkward silence because there's no way in hell I'll say thanks to him. I toss the towel on the bed and open the closet. "Pick the peach one!" He points to it as he retires to my bed. "You'll steal glances with it." I grumble. "But I'll look like a doughnut with my wide hips, big ass and big boobs." "But you always look like a doughnut in anything you wear," Malone laughs. I roll my eyes. "But seriously, you are beautifully thick. You have what guys call 'the perfect figure'. Skinny girls have nothing on you, Doughnut. Infact, jealousy burns them in the throat." Compared to the skinny girls at school, I've always felt like I'm 'fat'. I've always felt like my ass is too big and my hips are too wide and my boobs are a little too big. I matured into a woman a little too fast and I've always felt like some giant amongst my friends. Malone and I bear an uncanny resemblance. Very dark deep eyes that sparkle. Arched eyebrows. Thick lashes. Silky smooth ebony hair. Fair skin that's a bit tanned. But despite the striking similarities, we have our differences. I've always felt like he's the perfected version of me. I find my nose a little too big yet his is perfectly straight, a bit smaller and pointed. His teeth are a brilliant well-arranged set while I find mine a little crooked. I'm a bit curvy and short while he's muscular, tall and lean. He's perfect. I'm imperfect. "You're just saying that to console me. I wish I was as skinny as the other girls..." I mutter. He rolls his eyes. "I wish you could see what I see when I look at you..." "A fat Doughnut?" I laugh bitterly. "Perfect imperfection." "That's worse." I roll my eyes and grab the peach dress Malone recommended. I hate how it hugs my body but Breaker always says he likes my round ass. He likes s******g it when we're alone. "And you deserve the best, Doughnut. You're the full package. A jackpot. Anyone would be lucky to have you and honestly, I think that Breaker doesn't even deserve an inch of you." "So that's what you came to tell me?" "I've heard what guys say about him and-" "I've also heard what girls say about you. It's ugly." "You're so stubborn! Jeez!" He retorts. "HOW the f**k are we twins! Can't you just f*****g listen to me?" "No, listen to me, Brat. I love Breaker, just the way he is. He's not perfect. But he's mine. He's my mistake to make. Not yours." He scoffs. "I'm going to laugh so hard when that boy wrecks your heart so bad you'll never forget!" My phone rings. Lex is calling. For a minute, I thought it's Breaker. I pick up quickly. "Have you seen the video?" ***** "What was in the video?" Miguel asks curiously. Breaker was in the guys' changing room with his lads telling them the only reason he was with with me is to make his ex, Jowrie, jealous. He didn't notice that one of the guys was recording. So he kept talking about how that night he would take my virginity, dump me and leave me in tears, begging to get back with him. "But you know what hurt most?" I tell Miguel as I glug down the glass of whiskey. He nods, listening keenly. "Breaker kept laughing saying, 'Jowrie really thinks I would leave her little cute ass for that ugly, fat-ass girl with crooked teeth. I just wanted her to feel horrible for leaving her for someone ugly.' And through the entire video, he kept calling me fat and ugly and calling my teeth crooked as they all burst out in a laugh." The ugly memories still flicker in my mind. That s**t broke me. It changed me. My trust was broken. "Can I be honest?" Miguel says. "I think you are gorgeous. And any guy that doesn't see that is blind." "I guess Breaker is blind then..." "And dumb." He adds. "And this is the same guy that keeps calling you telling you he wants you back? " I gulp down the drink, laughing sarcastically. "And to make matters worse, he made this recent video and shared it for the world to see? He must come from a long line of legendary monsters!" He says in horror. He smiles at me, looking at me with sympathy. "But you are strong, baby girl." "Let's have a drink to that!" I raise a glass. I take another shot. I want to drink myself stupid and forget all my stupid problems. "So there you have it... I told you the whole story like you requested. Now, can you buy me more drinks?" Miguel is about to respond when I immediately freeze. Someone just entered the bar. Axel. Kill me now! ****
