“Yeah, you’re definitely Julius’ daughter,” Dorian retorted, taking her hand. Xia pulled him to his feet. The force of her pulls surprised Dorian. She was strong, stronger than he was. Xia gently pushed him back and stepped away.
“All right, Dorian. Let’s try that again.” Xia reset herself and began her second attempt. This time, Dorian predicted her advance. With a quick shift of his feet, he avoided her low sweep.
“There you go. Don’t overthink. Just react to my movements and adapt,” Xia instructed.
While Dorian and Dain began their sessions, the remaining three groups trained in the distance. In one of the corners of the arena, Rin and Kara discussed magical processes and possibilities. Kara seemed almost childlike while she listened to Rin’s stories of magical lore and tales of old.
