Chapter Four The salvage company had cleaned up the burnt-out barn. Lacy ordered it demolished, torn away, every trace of it hauled off. All except the old stone wall, that three weeks after her father’s funeral, was harboring the old vine that for years had crawled up the stones and wound its way about the aging edifice. Otherwise, when Lacy looked to where the barn had been, she saw nothing but sky beyond the rise.
